Michael Jackson's death might have been from Demerol

Thursday June 25, 2009

Categories: Entertainment, Health

According to The Sun:

An Emergency Room source at UCLA hospital said Jackson aides told medics he had collapsed after an injection of potent Demerol -- similar to morphine.

A Jacko source said: "Shortly after taking the Demerol he started to experience slow shallow breathing.

"His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped.

"His staff started mouth-to-mouth and an ambulance was called which got there in eight minutes "Butfound he was in full respiratory arrest, no breathing and no pulse. They started full CPR and rushed him to hospital.

All painkiller addictions are potentially fatal, but demerol is a nasty drug among them - highly addictive and not even all that useful for legitimate medical uses. If indeed it was an overdose, his death could have been prevented. A drug called Narcan will bring overdose victims out of respiratory depression in a minute or less. The stuff should be made available to people with a history of opiate addiction.

As a recovering addict, I am sad that Michael might have joined the thousands of people each year that die in active addiction. But there is help!

"The message is that an addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live. Our message is hope and the promise of freedom." -NA Basic Text

I'd be shocked if this 50 year old's heart attack weren't from drugs.

Kenneth is right. If it was a Demerol overdose, Narcan could have reversed the effects. This doctor is a quack!!
