Palin and Kerry trade quips

posted by Susan Johnson | 9:35am Sunday June 28, 2009

Oh those funny, funny politicians:

Kerry: “Too bad, if a governor had to go missing, it couldn’t have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin.”
Palin, in Kosovo, said she saw him say it on television: “He looked quite frustrated and he looked so sad. I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say ‘John Kerry, why the long face?’?”
Now Kerry’s spokeswoman has offered a lame attempt at a clever apology — an apology that as far as I know, no one has requested. If anything, he should apologize to his foot for having shot it. Again.
Spokeswoman: “We stand corrected, the truth is every Democrat hopes Governor Palin is in the public eye for a long, long time, especially on the 2012 presidential ballot. Lately it’s been Vice President Cheney that everyone hopes would lose the cameras and go for a long leisurely hike on the Appalachian Trail. And good grief, if anyone thinks John Kerry is afraid of strong, smart women, they sure haven’t met his brilliant wife and two independent daughters. It sounds like getting crushed these last two election cycles cost some of these Republicans their sense of humor.”

Cost them their sense of humor? Biden alone is worth the price of admission. And Obama’s love affair with the spotlight is equally fun to watch.

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

Rest in peace, Internet Monk.
A man known in the cyber world as The Internet Monk, has died. Michael Spencer lost his battle with cancer tonight. My prayers go out for his family and for all those who loved and will miss him. :(

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

Palin needs to get a thicker skin and not react to everything that is said. She and her family are desperate for the spotlight, viewing their life as if they are living a reality show. The best thing the whole family could so is be quiet, rip up Greta Van Sustern’s telephone number, and focus on keeping the family together.

Kerry’s joke wasn’t funny and a bit inappopriate.
But Palin’s thin-skinned reaction is painful to watch. For her to be taken seriously (and, trust me, I have no interest in seeing her seriously advance to anything!), she needs to know when to let stuff roll off. This one would have died for lack of oxygen except for her equally lame response.
She can’t respond to everything without coming off as petty and attention-seeking. She overdoes the victimization on a regular basis. Her playground me-too retorts are an embarrassment to women.

You are right, JB. As we learned during the presidential election, Palin is in over her head and she is surrounded by people who don’t give her good advice. Her quips are good when they are scripted, but she’s awful when she’s talking off the cuff.
I realize she’s popular among the GOP grassroots, but they are a dying breed who lose elections.

Hi Guys!!
Palin is, to quote http://kalimao.blogspot.com/2009/06/politics-sarah-palin.html –”…obviously an offense kleptomaniac. If she sees offense lying around, she takes it.”
Look up narcissistic supply and symptoms of narcissism. In my opinion, that could be the problem. We keep feeding her problem as long as we (the media, the Internet, and you and I)keep paying attention to her. If we ignored her, that would cut off her supply.
Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening. #1 She’s worth money to the media for the attention, negative (as in disagreement with her policies?? )or her lies, hypocrisy, her train wreck of a family life–(see the Internet), or for the psychodrama or the comic opera, or positive(for the 7% of people in America who like her).
