I don't think he was that tall. Wiki says 5'10".
So, seems like a shadow because it's distorted wrt height.
Whatever that was, a shadow was not it. A shadow would have been much darker and positioned differently.
I also find it hard to believe that a shadow could have crossed the room that way without us seeing the person casting it and without the shadow lengthening as it moved across the wall.
