Excellent job mocking the overpaid celebrities mocking the overpaid insurance executives:Here’s the original:

Protect Insurance Companies PSA from Will Ferrell

Here’s the response from celebrities when you point out they have the power to help the uninsured on their own (you know, with the millions of dollars they’re overpaid).(via)

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

Rest in peace, Internet Monk.
A man known in the cyber world as The Internet Monk, has died. Michael Spencer lost his battle with cancer tonight. My prayers go out for his family and for all those who loved and will miss him. :(

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

Still have yet to see anything Christian come from this blog

Your reasoning is flawed, and it shows a decided tendency of yours to side with those who victimize as opposed to those who are victims.
Saying some people shouldn’t speak out against insurance companies who deliberately change policies and procedures to save a buck at the expense of people’s treatment just because those speaking out have the means to help a tiny fraction of uninsured people is like saying some people shouldn’t speak out against the financial criminals who have destroyed countless lives just because those speaking out have the means to open a soup kitchen.
Where is it written that the victimizers automatically get a pass if one has the means to clean up a little of their mess?
And exactly how is that a Christian viewpoint?

Both are funny, because both oversimplify their case for the purpose of satire…which is a basis of comedy… not good policy.

the difference is that celebrities are paid for services. if you don’t like will ferrell, don’t watch his shows and movies… pick a different entertainer. i can live without seeing another movie or rerun of saturday night live. i can’t live without quality health care.
so what does an insurance company do for you? they take your money, and maybe give it to doctors for services. they’re nothing more than money handlers and they are rewarded with exorbitant salaries by cutting risky people from their roles. it’s offensive.
if you don’t like your insurance company, what options do you have? i sure can’t afford private insurance outside of what my employer offers. lucky you if you can.

this is the common excuse that conservatives toss about to absolve themselves of responsibility to society: “see, these rich hollywood types could solve the worlds problems if they wanted to. but no, they are hypocrites of the highest order by criticizing the rich while rolling in their own cash. if he won’t give everything, i don’t have to give a cent.”
is that compassionate, mature, and christ-like of you? because he doesn’t you sure don’t have to! greedy. egotistical. selfish.
this is why i favor mandates and tax increases to pay for health reform. i will help regardless, but i know that there are selfish people who will use this very excuse of “he who is rich didn’t lead the way and give all of his belongings away first, so why should i do anything?” worthless, pathetic examples of christ’s love and compassion. and it’s a stupid defense for doing nothing.
michael wilson (the author of the article michele linked to), whose entire argument lacks logic, is no better than the man he criticizes, neither are the non-celebrities in the “psa”, and neither is michele, because they all expect someone else to lead the way and solve the world’s problems for them. another sign that conservatism never was about hard work, personal responsibility, leadership, or compassion. it’s always been about greed, ego, and self.

This is fantastic. These overpaid celebs, driving around in their limos, living in their multi-million dollar homes, and on and on…calling out insurance executives? Funny and sad at the same time. These people mocking them is very funny and very good.
I like that part where the kid next door should pay from his piggy bank for his neighbor kid’s broken leg. That sums up what these socialists wealth distributors are trying to do.
Hey you libs, next time I have a medical need, will you send me money? Why wait for the government to force you to. Just do it on your own.

“Hey you libs, next time I have a medical need, will you send me money? Why wait for the government to force you to. Just do it on your own.”
you seem capable enough. just not responsible for your own needs? yet another hypocritical neocon looking for a handout.
exactly what i was saying, that conservatives will scapegoat the rich as a reason to shirk their own responsibilities. predictable!
i know, pouty – you can just go to the emergency room and not pay and let everyone else eat the cost. isn’t that the way the capitalist system works now?
tell you what, grandpappy pouty, when you prove to me that you’re unable to pay, and that you have a critical need, i’ll pitch in. but only because i love you, man. in fact, i’d even bet that my 3rd grader would willing to give up her own piggy bank to help you out, because she understands that compassion trumps greed.

I just watched the Will Ferrell PSA for the first time. It is cool. It was nice to see “13″ – too bad they couldn’t get “Dr. House” as one of the talking heads. I’m not sure whether I favor the public option, but I definitely favor reform, and I am delighted that Ferrell did this PSA.
