Internet Monk is looking for a title for his new book

posted by Susan Johnson | 9:34pm Thursday September 10, 2009

Evidently, the publishers didn’t like, “Jesus Shaped Spirituality.” He’s asking for suggestions but plans to use them without acknowledging your contribution in his book:

So I need some help. Ideas for a book title and/or subtitle. Jesus shaped can’t be in the title. May be in the subtitle, but not necessarily wanted by marketing.
If you have ideas or questions, WRITE ME at michaelATinternetmonk.com. I may NOT acknowledge, and if I use your idea in some form, don’t count on seeing your name in the preface.
I’m going to work on this when I finish revising. Thanks for any and all help.

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

Rest in peace, Internet Monk.
A man known in the cyber world as The Internet Monk, has died. Michael Spencer lost his battle with cancer tonight. My prayers go out for his family and for all those who loved and will miss him. :(

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

I don’t get why they rejected JSS unless they think it sounds too like “Theology of the Body.”
I’d love to help him come up with something catchy but I think his bar buds have the best odds at formulating a title that captures the essence of IM’s message and personality.
I admit that there are times I don’t get him. And other times I do very much, to the point of tears.
And then there are the times I think I get him but come to see that I haven’t. That’s usually after I’ve – too late! – already made a comment.

how about “power hungrey men of the church shaped spirituality”? or … hey, how about that republican rep. joe wilson from south carolina? what a tool.
and so this is what the republican party has become: angry, bitter, old white men full of lies and vitriol and void of good ideas and solutions.
oh, but i guess that would be “joe ‘the tool’ wilson shaped the republican party”… that’s not what you’re looking for.

Are you reading the suggestions at the Bar? One was about Jesus wanting his lampstand back. Ouch.

no, not lost. i’m just bringing a fuller picture of what’s happening in the world of politics from a “reformed point of view”. ;)
maybe you have something to offer to this thread (as i did) or are you just here to criticize me?
