It would appear that murderers have already “commemorated” this day, so to speak. There have been two shootings in Owosso, Michigan. According to reports, one victim was a pro-life activist who was shot near a school in the town. The other victim was apparently shot near a gravel pit at the edge of town.
Police tentatively are treating the shootings as linked, given they happened so close together in distance and time.

Yet more blood soaking this already bloody day. May God have mercy on us, on the members of this community in Michigan, and most importantly on the families of the victims.
A suspect has been taken into custody, thankfully. If there are others we can only hope the police will find them quickly before others are harmed.

Obviously I haven’t forgiven these hijackers because that this first video begins with their pictures makes me sick.
I thought it was bad enough the video shows several people falling and an impact on the roof. But then the audio of a man on the 105th floor as WTC 2 collapses is too much … too much to share this video with my children.

moonshadow, you said just how i was feeling as well. watching these just brings back that same sickening feeling that i had the very day this happened, 8 years ago. the horror never loses its impact on the psyche.
someday i will show videos like these to my kids. i want them first be able to understand the magnitude of the attacks and the aftermath. they need to understand how significant the death of 2974 people is. when they can comprehend these things along with the understanding of the pure hatred that drove the terrorists to do such acts, and their reasons for it, then i will show them.

We certainly won’t forget the day – the date is forever etched in our collective minds. However, I think the larger question is whether, as professing Christians, we will forgive. What would forgiveness look like? Do you think supporting military action which unfortunately results in the deaths of civilians is an appropriate witness for our faith?

I was thinking about this this morning … and I came up with reducing their individual culpability, in that they personally had no idea how successful they would be. That takes nothing off their desire and intent, but part of me would like to think that even they would be horrified by the results.
I’d be interested in what others think.
