I'm sure the rich are very thankful to the Obama administration and the Democrats in Congress for the lovely tax credit (between $4,200 and $5,500) that golfers now get on their golf cart purchase:
Some controversy arose as to which vehicles, exactly, qualified. The IRS recently ruled any electric vehicle qualifies for the subsidy, so long as it is road-worthy.And there's no limit on how many electric vehicles you can buy which has lead to some entrepreneurs buying multiple golf carts to sell later after the credit expires. That means the model in question needs to have side and rearview mirrors and three-point seat belts, and be capable of going at least 15 to 25 mph. Meet those requirements, combine the federal credit with similar incentive plans in many states, and many a creative subject of the realm has discovered the government will now pay virtually the entire cost of acquiring a new ... golf cart.
Yet another example of the law of unintended consequences. It seems to happen a lot when the Democrats are in power.
Imagine the uproar there would be in the press if Republicans gave tax credits for golf carts. "Tax credits for the rich," would be plastered on the front page of the NY Times and WP. The Democrats are blessed to have such a compliant press.

"What it does mean is that the Reformed faith informs the writer in his or her writing"
Would that that were the case, Lea. I see no such information in this post. What does the Reformed Church theology tell Michele about this topic? It's still not clear. We do know her opinion of the President (but I doubt even that is because of her religion), but nothing about how she's been informed by her Church's teachings on this (or any other) topic.
Re: "the Reformed view of the role of rulers in a society", America is not 'ruled' by the President, being a Republic.
"that is not what the Bible as interpreted by Reformed folks teaches the government to do"
Wierder and wierder. Since when is it the role of a religion (Reformed or other) OR the Bible (and the Reformed 'interpretation' of it - or any other religion's interpretation of it) to "teach the government" what to do? Does America have a Reformed government now? (Can you say 'theocracy'?)
Still don't know what the Reformed faith teaches about golf carts OR tasing them. Care to 'splain me that?
"tasing" should be "taxing" (sorta like Michele's posts - taxing).
Your Name, perhaps you should read the bible. Particularly read Roman 13 on this subject. That's where the word "ruler" comes from. I suggest you study up on what the bible teaches on the role of government and then we can have an intelligent discussion on the subject. You need to know about a subject before you can intelligently discuss it. If you want to know what the Reformed faith teaches, besides the bible as finally authoritative, read the Westminster Confession of Faith.

Lea,
"If you want to know what the Reformed faith teaches, besides the bible as finally authoritative, read the Westminster Confession of Faith."
I shouldn't have to. This blog promises a "Reformed perspective" on issues - and I see none of it.
As anonymous reincarnate pointed out on October 26, 2009 3:56 PM, what this post is is a series of lies. Hardly Biblical, Reformed or even Christian.
Do better!
It is a very good post putting some light into the plight of the common man and the rich ones would get even more facilities. There is more things going in the white house than we could imagine. Hope that everything will be fine at the earliest.
