It is absolutely amazing that anyone could be surprised that Obama's admin would try to do all in it's power to curtail the production of coal:
[T]he Environmental Protection Agency has put the brakes on 79 surface mining permits in four states since he was elected.Obama was pretty clear about his intentions to tax into bankruptcy coal burning plants (through his cap and tax boondoggle):The EPA says these permits could violate the Clean Water Act and warrant "enhanced" review. But the agency went even further last week, announcing plans to revoke a permit for the Spruce No. 1 Mine in West Virginia - a move that has caused anxiety among coal-state Democrats about the future of the industry under the Obama administration.
"So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can," he said at the time. "It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted."Evidently his supporters in coal producing states didn't believe him because now they're surprised and outraged that he would actually try to restrict production through executive means:
Although his favored cap-and-trade bill hasn't yet been passed, West Virginia's Democratic Gov. Joe Manchin III, who supported Mr. Obama's candidacy, called the EPA moves part of a stealth campaign to stifle the industry. When Obama actually gets his legislation, it will be much worse. And this guy who is governing a coal producing state supported the guy who is going to undermine the state's economy. Smart."Right now, my belief is that they're trying to kill off surface mining through regulation what they cannot get done through legislation," Mr. Manchin told MetroNews Talkline, a West Virginia call-in radio program, earlier this month. In West Virginia, 23 permits are being held up, with other affected states being Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.

Algore, global warming, "Inconvenient Truth" all in the same sentence. Nuf said.
But let me rephrase: Idiot (or former VP), global alarming and Inconvenient Lies (see an actual court has shown them to be lies).
Here's an idea: All who think man is causing too much co2 to be in the atmosphere...hold your breath...go ahead...do your part.
Idiocy run amok on the left.
i see... you have nothing.
lies? really, where's your proof? political, a bit alarmist possibly. after all, he is a politician and not a scientist. but again, scientists agree that gore got nearly all of the science correct. is that why you go after gore and not the science?
sure, it's easy for you to call gore names, but you're not qualified to dispute the evidence and the majority of scientists. typical.
let me rephrase: ignoramus (lea), reality denier, flat-earther and fundie, you need a real education before opening your mouth on such matters that are beyond your limited understanding.
Oh I got plenty. I'm not going to wast much time on you. You have your head stuck in the sand of HuffPo and Algore types for info. Until you are willing to make an honest inquiry into the science I'd just be wasting time I can better spend lobbying people who matter in the climate debate.
So I'm not going to do your homework for you. But, as a teaser here is one place. Ease on over there and get in a debate with then. That would be fun to watch. As I said earlier, I'm not a scientist. This guy is and has the bona fides. So jump on in and let us know how that turns out.

lea,
Wrong again, I see. No, ai did not rely on "HuffPo" NOR on "Al Gore [corrected spelling] types". ai actually cited scientific sources, to whit ...
www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/upsDownsGlobalWarming.html
www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/globalwarming/home.html
www.ncar.ucar.edu/research/climate/now.php
www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science_and_impacts/science/global-warming-faq.html
Whereas you cited nothing but one researcher with whom you happen to agree.
Hence, you lose.
Do better!
Even as the people rejoiced at this good news, coal barons trembled in their temples of black gold. There are many ways to mine coal besides blowing up the environment. But the question is whether Mr.Obama will turn his back on the mountains, the people and his own integrity.
