Reid: "Coal Makes Us Sick, Oil Makes Us Sick"

You know, it's absolutely amazing that a leader of our government would make such a stupid and unfounded assertion. Oil makes us sick? What the heck does he expect us to use instead? And what the heck does he use?

BTW, he can offer all the tax incentives he wants but that's not going to impact what I pay at the pump. What the heck is Reid doing to lower the price of gas? Someone should ask him and hold him accountable for his inaction and his stupid comments.

Clark on McCain: "He hasn't held executive responsibility"

Note to the Obama campaign: when your surrogates point out the deficiencies of your opponent, they might not want to use examples in which you are even weaker!

(via)

Clark's first clue should have been Schieffer's incredulity over the remark.

Clark's remarks were so ridiculous that Obama had to distance himself from them:

"As he's said many times before, Senator Obama honors and respects Senator McCain's service, and of course he rejects yesterday's statement by General Clark," Obama spokesman Bill Burton says in a statement.

The reason for Obama's flip-flop on guns

I don't think we need a nameless political hack to tell us this:

"I don't want that to happen with Obama -- to be defeated on an issue that is not important to us and is not a political winner for us." He would not be quoted by name because he did not want abuse heaped on him by gun control activists.
It is abundantly clear that Obama is courting white male gun owners in states like PA and the south so his principles will have to be...shall we say...flexible?

But isn't it interesting that a "prominent Democrat" would admit that it's not an issue that's important to them? I think it's clear that the NRA has won this issue.

"Jesus for President"

So, what part of "my kingdom is not of this world" don't you get?

"They're spiritual misfits. Rabble-rousers. They packed the shell of the old Baptist church on Negley Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to hear author, Christian activist and fellow misfit Shane Claiborne stump on the campaign for a third party candidate, Jesus.

The dreadlocked Christian activist from Philadelphia and his team parked a black school bus around the back. The hand-painted gold letters on the side read "Jesus for President."

The bus runs on vegetable oil and, yes, it's a political statement.

"It'll be a long time before we fight a war over used veggie oil," says Claiborne with a sly smile."

Why would he want a demotion?

The Christian left is making the exact same mistake that the right did: looking to the government to usher in the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is not of this world but we continually look to government to institute a political version of it. We want America to look like what we think the kingdom should look like.

Look, it's well within reason that Christians would want to live in a society that reflects Christian values of morality and love for our fellow man but the government can't make that happen. The government can feed the poor, give shelter to the homeless, aid the sick and infirm but having done so they don't fulfill the biblical mandate to do so. Sorry but the state is not the church. Wanting our nation to fulfill it's obligation to its citizens is one thing, thinking it has anything to do with the church's duty to the poor is another.

The only way the kingdom is realized here on earth is through sharing the gospel and transformed lives and that's the role of the church. If we really want to see a transformed America, the only way it will happen is though the gospel. The right hasn't learned that lesson yet and the left appears to be following their lead which is really ironic given the fact that they are so vehemently opposed to how closely the right has associated themselves with Republicans.

A response to my Reformed theology post

When I was harassed into proving that my Reformed theology is the source for my worldview and not the Republican party, I provided you guys with a nice little primer that explains Reformed theology so that I can then provide you with an explanation based on that theology. It took me awhile to write it because I had to be precise, I'm dealing with the word of God and it can't be treated lightly. Also my Reformed brethren would probably take me to task if I blew it.

I also knew that because Reformed theology is complicated and I'm not well-liked by the commenters (hated, maybe?), that it would be used as a weapon against me as it has been in the past. I hesitated to provide more information into my positions because I didn't want to take the time and effort to write something that I knew would be treated lightly and not given much thought. I even mentioned this to the commenter who kept nagging me on every post to provide proof of my Reformed view. But he kept insisting and since I'm susceptible to nagging (just ask my kids), I caved.

So, I wasn't surprised at all by this comment:

Michelle, your explanation of Reformed theology was enlightening to say the least. Now I know why you have such contempt for those who disagree with you; obviously, they are all going to hell.
Nothing in the post should have lead anyone to believe that I think those who disagree with me are going to hell. Why would I think anything so silly? It's obvious that it's just one more way for this commenter to use my beliefs as a weapon against me, just as I said would happen (yes, this is your typical I told you so post).

But I'm not going to let this misrepresentation and vitriol stop me from providing what I said I would provide. I will continue to do so but will note these types of responses because I really do like being proved right and noting it repeatedly (just ask my kids :-)

Do the Republicans have more cash on hand than the Democrats?

I find this very hard to believe given the fact that McCain isn't exactly our favorite candidate and Obama is the lightworker (I might start using this instead of messiah, that should make the Obamanites happy :-) and given the...

Meet Barack Obama

The RNC has created a new website as a repository of their opposition research on Obama.Given Obama’s six-month, 54-contest, grueling up-and-down nomination battle against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), the desire for a breather would be understandable. But the Republican...

Lautenberg wins the nomination in NJ

Crap! The Democrat primary was the only way to get rid of Lautenberg. There is no way a Republican wins this year in NJ. My fellow New Jerseyians complain about higher taxes yet keep voting for the Democrats, not the...
