Evangelicals & Obama, Cont'd

Wednesday May 7, 2008

Two posts (from wsj.com, where my post was originally printed) that typify the coming debate in the evangelical community:

My Dad is a Southern Baptist Minister and my mother is also highly conservative. They are dedicated and excited Obama supporters. You don’t get much more evangelical than they are and you won’t find people who live much more biblically than they do so my answer is YES HE CAN. Oh, they voted for Bush too, just in case you are doubting their “conservativeness.” Comment by Seth - May 7, 2008 at 4:31 pm

On the other hand...

I am an Evangelical Christian. Sen. Obama is the epitome of a preacher looking for a flock with itching ears. And he’s finding them. Rev. Wright was most correct when he said about Obama: he has to do what politicians do. Meaning: Obama has to lie to get elected. Obama will nominate Federal judges who are opposed to Christian morality and its influence in society. Obama will raise taxes to fund the next “great society” (that really worked in the 60’s, didn’t it?). He will be the modern day Robin Hood by taking from the rich and giving to the poor. So, it is flawed logic to think that Obama would be a friend to Evangelical Christians and very hard-working Americans everywhere.

Whats so bad about redistributing opportunity?

From the heart and mouth of Obama: "I don't want the PUNISHED with a BABY!!!!!!" and of course Obama saying that Paul was "obscure" about homosexuality, makes it clear that Obama has to lie to get Christians to think he is a morally sound person. Jesus was clear that marriage is a man and a woman, immutably. And, tearing an unborn person to shreds killing him or her without mercy, so that a promiscuos daughter doesn't have to be burdened with a baby is as close to satanic as it gets. AND, notice that Jesus said, to go to a brother that sins against you and try several ways to get them to repent . . . AFTER THAT, if they don't: "TREAT THEM AS YOU WOULD a TAX COLLECTOR!!!!" Come on now, anyone that calls themself a Christian and takes the Bible seriously, should be able to see how valueless Obama is for the Christian community and morality overall. He is a sold-out secularist. His words and deeds match that of Humanism through and through. And communism -redistributing wealth - has been a miserable and violent failure without doubt. The rich and powerful thrive just as much in communism and the poor get trampled to death. Let us not forget the history we can still read about in decent history books. Or, better yet, just visit the countires of the USSR. The poor sell their children to brothels. Reminds one of the inner-city that Obama failed in.

He'll never get a majority of the evangelical vote. And, look at the situation from the other side. Obama didn't do well with certain Democratic groups, like Catholics and whites. What are the chances of a moderate Republican like John McCain drawing in large numbers of those groups? The chances are pretty good. Net result: a Republican President with a Democratic Congress in 2009.

As long as the Democrats promote "a different Gospel" they will always not do well with Evangelicals. Evangel means "the Gospel." War is wrong. And so is being a corrupt tax collector, killing children for convenience, and altering marriage from what Jesus defined it always being. And of course, Humanism as the faith-based belief system of Democrat legislation is foul and anti-Christian as well. Etc., etc., etc..
