Obama's Family Ad -- Raising the McCain Adultery Issue???

The GOP wanted to impeach Clinton for his affair in the White House and it is not OK to bring up that McCain cheated on his wife? There is one verse in the New Testament that nobody but the the Catholics seem to remember: "God hates divorce." I bet that many of the Religious Self Righteous don't even know ere to find it.

So while the Republicans go after Edwards for his affair, it is fair that stones are cast back at McCain for his affair and his divorce. In the Mind of God, both have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. Both have failed to live Joly and blameless lives. But then, None are worthy, we ALL sin and shame ourselves before God.

Christian values? As a state senator, Obama voted PRESENT on a bill that would afford healthcare to babies born in abortions gone awry. Pro-choice isn't enough for Obama, it seems. He won't even let babies who have survived infanticide survive.

If a Dems' adultery and divorce is an issue, so is that of the Republicans.

Sad that voters seem to care more about who a candidate has sex with than what their voting record is on issues related to healthcare, veterans support, the economy, the environment, etc.

All I can see that it says is that Obama has a family he loves and cares about. Never mentions McCain.
As to McCain's first marriage? He isn't the first nor will he be the last future politician to have divorce in his/her past. R. Reagan was married, divorced and remarried before he became president. JFK had a bunch of mistresses as president and probably before, as have other leaders. For McCain it is in the past. Leave it there.

I think that McCain and other Viet Nam Vets. had a hard time returning from the horrors they saw, and to add to that McCain was a POW for 5 years. He must have changed a lot after his war experiences. Many marriages didn't survive the return of the Viet Nam vets. He and his first wife probably had nothing in common anymore except the children. He didn't desert his children and he and his first wife are, according to reports, still friends.

McCain committed adultery. Obama has been faithful to his wife. Christian people should think about that when they vote.

McCain is a disgusting person. Obama has good family values. Christians need to make sure McCain is not elected!

Those on this site who are catholic are aware that the catholic church has been dictating who we are to vote for. Actually, threatening us is more appropriate, though I suspect the tone varies between dioceses and bishops. The bottom line: if a catholic votes for the "pro-abortion" Obama then we are committing sin (according to the Vatican ) and risk being denied the sacrements for our sin. Canon 1329 is cited to justify this action. On the other hand, if we vote for McCain, we are being faithful to the catholic teachings.

I find the hypocrisy of this repulsive. The catholic church condemns divorced/remarried couples for living in perpetual unrepentant sin of adultery. Yet, in the next breath, the church is demanding that catholics vote for a presidential candidiate who is divorced, remarried and is LIVING in the perpetual sin of adultery (according to the vatican anyway). Canon 1329 applies here as well. So, why is the leadership not speaking out here as fervently as they speak out against Obama? Is this an example of the proportionalism the pope has been blaming recently for all of the woes of the catholic church? Or is it worse? Is it perhaps a case of the leadership leading us into sin?

I think the previous posters fail to see something that should be obvious: As immoral as adultery is, it's not the same as murder.

McCain may have cheated on his first wife, but Obama supports the murder of innocent children through abortion rights.

for those that want to forgive this is fine, but to forget it is a typical right wing move , this is about as cold hearted as you can get your wife taking care of your children being mother and father, instead of repaying his loving wife with kindness and appreciation he hands her a divorce decree, so us all just run out there and vote for our honest pro life candidate, mr straight talking express, i'am certain cindy's millions didn't have any influence on his decision ,go big john!

Sin is only equal when it comes to the judgment seat of God. Sin is not equal when it comes to consequences and choosing a leader. Adultery from 30 plus years ago that has been repented of should not be part of this election. But someone who currently supports the death of innocent children through abortion is not fit to be president!

Bill Clinton was vilified because of his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. In what way was his adultery worse than John McCain's?

No one has ever suggested that Carol McCain was not totally supportive of, and loyal to, her husband while he was a prisoner and when he returned. John McCain's behavior suggests he wasn't willing to continue in a marriage with a woman who no longer fit his image of "wife".

The right is trying to label Senator Obama as an elitist which is amusing in that Senator McCain, the son and grandson of admirals in the US Navy, was a crown prince within that culture. McCain grew up watching the men in his family being deferred to by those whose rank was lower. He experienced a life in which orders given were orders taken without question. As an officer himself and as a senator, McCain has lived a life in which he has had few people to challenge him.

No one questions his commitment to this country but his sense of entitlement in his youth and as a senator should raise some questions. He clearly felt he was entitled to a different wife.

John McCain took an oath when we married his first wife. For better or for worse, till death do we part.

If he broke that oath, why in the world would we trust him on national issues and as our president? Some say that adultery is not as bad as murder. Who will stand before God and say their sin wasn't as bad as the other persons sin?
Sin is sin and neither is better or worse than the other. Voting for the lesser of 2 evils is still voting for evil, isn't it?

Maybe Christians ought not vote for either party if neither qualify by the standards that God set.
