Good Bye
Today is my last day at Beliefnet (which I co-founded in 1999). The swirling emotions: sadness, relief, love, humility, pride, anxiety.
But mostly deep, deep gratitude.
How many people get to come up with an idea and have rich people invest money to make it a reality? How many people get to create

My Big News
Dear Readers,
This is the most difficult (and surreal) post I've had to write. I'm leaving Beliefnet, the company I co-founded in 1999.
In mid November, I'll be stepping down as President and Editor in Chief to lead a project on the future of the media for the Federal Communications Commission, the

Secularizing the Cross (Christian Activists: Be Careful What You Wish For)
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments this week, in Buono v. Salazar, about whether a white 6 1/2 foot cross can be displayed in a national park as a tribute to World War I soldiers. Though it's depicted as a classic clash of the secular and the religious, it actually illustrates why Christian act

That was why Ted Kennedy endorsed him, or that was how the joke went right after he did.

He is not white or black. He is 50% mixed, so I don’t see how the racist card could be played on the Democratic side. I wish the big News stations wouldn’t be so obvious as to who they are voting for. It is so ridiculous and I have yet to hear a hard question asked for Obama to answer. Why won’t Obama do an interview with Sean Hannity? I will pay for his airfare to the show. I think he is scared. I am not for Obama nor McCain, but are choices are truly limited.

Obama is an American…who really cares what color he is? He, like all Americans except the Native Americans, have ancestry from other countries. On Obama’s mother’s side he could actually have Irish ancestry. I haven’t looked it up. So if someone wants to call him Irish, who cares?

Actually, Obama does have Irish ancestry on his mother’s side. Look it up on irishamericansforobama.com

I don’t think the question is whether he is black, white or Arab. The problem lies with his dishonesty. He is only 6 and some percent black, 50% white and the remainder is Arab. I believe you have to be over 12 some percent in this country to be considered “black”. Mr. Obama is a very smart man and has very smart people working for him so I am sure they know this and have failed to acknowledge it for fear of a lost campaign. The liberal media has been a huge benefit as well as they have withheld much negative information regarding Obama. Nevertheless, he will be our next president and he should be honored as such. I just hope many of his nasty little secrets don’t come out and hurt us as a country. I also hope he can be strong enough to defend our country as many leaders of other countries find that between Obama and McCain, Obama as the weaker of the two with regard to National Defense.
