Wow, I'm impressed by the speed of the media to track this down ... and the double-standard it exposes.
Barack Obama first entered the national consciousness 4 years ago this July ... but it wasn't until March or April of this year that the media began to focus on the sermons of the Reverend Wright (despite the fact that Sean Hannity and others began banging the drum on this back in the spring of 2007).
Sarah Palin entered the national consciousness 4 or so days ago ... and the media is already going after the sermons NOT of her pastor ... but of a GUEST preacher at her church.
Well, nobody outside of Alaska had even heard of Sarah Palin 4 days ago. And Obama wasn't critized until it became apparent that he was a serious contender. Now, it's all out there and America gets to decide.
I think it's fair.

No evidence that Obama agreed with the sentiments of Wright?
Maybe this doesn't count as "evidence" but consider this:
(1) Obama hails Wright over a period of many years as his "spiritual mentor." (2) Obama borrows from a Wright sermon for a title of his best-selling, "Audacity of Hope." (3) Obama appoints Wright to his campaign as a Spiritual Issues Advisor (along with Father Pflger, another "rage merchant"). (4) Obama donated over $15,000 to Wright's church in 2006 alone.
No evidence?
I have two questions for Sarah Palin:
Do you believe tha tJews can go to Heaven?
Do you believe that God sends suicide bombers to punish Jews for not accepting Jesus?
The chickens sent out by the right with regards to Obama's pastor will very soon come home to roost by way of Palin's pastor. The standard has been set...it is fair game to pillory the candidate's minister.

I'm a Jew. And she scares the hell out of me. To an Evangelical, ultimately, I die or convert. End of story.
Jesus was Jewish as were most of the Apostles. Check. The mob that asked to crucify Jesus was Jewish, or mostly Jewish, check. The crucifixion was carried out by the Romans (Jewish law does not recognize death by crucifixion, we have stoning and such). Somehow, the Romans were spared the hate and were rewarded with being the Holy See.
Go figure.
On the other hand, half of what this guy says about the Bible is factually wrong. The Yimah Shmo Vezikhro part is not from Psalms. The final "a" was dropped from Jesus' name only because nobody else uses it (Jesu, Jesus, Jesús... is there a pattern here).
And many Israeli Jews who are not Orthodox have the same feeling for J4J that most decent people have for scientology. Which I need not explain.
In retrospect, methinks the Evangelical movement of the last 25 years will be seen as some kind of mass hysteria. How else to describe utter contempt for scripture ("Judge Not", anybody?), utter contempt for provable facts, while focusing all your might on avoiding abortions? And politically engaging the base greed of the richest of the rich in the process?
It will be soon that people will see this abomination as the dead-end ideology that it actually is. The Palin story will be a huge catalyst.
Palin's preacher wants to kill all of my people.
How can we allow a person like Palin, one of his followers, to ascend to a leadership position anywhere in our nation?
And why does Rod Dreher censor such commentary?
The Right asserts that Obama is responsible for the words/actions of Wright. That his attendance of that church indicates that Obama fully supports everything that Wright says and does. Should Palin be held to the same standard of judgement regarding the AIP and other "fringe" groups to which she is now being tied? Are these similar circumstances, or are they different? I argue that the circumstances are similar, and both people should be judged by the same rules.
Wright has a history of extreme racial views. That is a fact. He also has a history of great social service. That is a fact, too. One can't take a single fact and make a blanket judgement - you have to consider the whole and do it in context. You have to consider his history, what he went through in life, and use empathy to gain an understanding of
the motives behind the extremes. I can see how Wright developed such extreme racial views: he lived through some very bad times for his race. Knowing the source doesn't offer an excuse, though. And I don't offer any excuses for it.
Obama attended Wrights church for a long period of time. That is a fact. However, in everything that Obama has done, written, and said you will find no indication of the extreme racial views of Wright. From what I have seen, Obama has taken the extreme racial views offered by Wright, along with the great social services and messages, and integrated them into a far more complex, empathetic understanding of race in our culture (I believe that most Obama supporters view it this way). This is evident in everything he has said. If there is some evidence that contradicts this, other than "Obama attended Wrights church", then I would like to see it.
Using unabashed cynicism you can suspect that a person silently belongs to an offensive organization, believing and supporting the agenda of that organization privately, while publicly offering a different face. We have all been giving plenty of reason to sink to such levels of cynicism. Personally, I don't believe this about Obama. His words and actions eroded my initial doubts about him and so far he hasn't really done anything to severely damage it. I might be wrong, though.
The same rules of forming an opinion based on facts, history, circumstance, empathy, and personal actions/words must also be applied to Palin. Time may prove these things wrong, but the facts look to be that she attended/supported AIP and other "fringe" organizations in some form. However, that is not enough to condemn her to holding the same views. She could have been using the experiences to further her world view, to balance it, empathize, to attempt to understand and put in a broader context things she experienced. We know some of the facts but what about the rest of it?
I now hear The Right making the same arguments in defense of Palin/AIP that were made in defense of Obama/Wright. And I see The Left pouncing on this just like the The Right did. I'm just concerned that The Left won't play fair like they demanded of The Right.

Personally, I hope the left finally understands that they need to play nasty, as nasty as the right. They need to swiftboat McCain and Palin just as the right swiftboated Kerry and Cleland. The left needs to get down in the mud and bury the right in their own kind of game.
The left has played the high road for the last few elections, and look what it has done to this country. The Republicans and all that they represent are bound and determined to destroy what is left of our nation.
Do you want corporations to skate on taxes while you pay "user fees" for everything from parking your car to storing your lawn mower? Do you want corporations to get tax breaks for giving stock options and bonuses to their CEOs while shipping jobs off shore and putting working folks out on their butts? Do you want more debt for your children and grandchildren than they can pay off in four or five lifetimes?
If you can answer yes to any of those questions, you deserve the Republican administrations. For the rest of us who are tired of seeing our country sold off to Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait while our jobs are shipped over to India, the Philippines, and god knows where else, it's time to vote for OUR best interests. And its time to take the gloves off and give as good as we get for once.
The right has become past masters at vilifying folks. It's time we returned fire...attack ad for attack ad.
Play fair hell. It's time to play to win.
There is a strain of the Christian right that absolutely loves "the Jews." Their reading of their Bible is that after the State of Israel is secure, then they can be raptured off to Heaven, 1/3 of the Jews converting to Christianity and being admitted to Heaven after a gory death, and the others just dying a gory death and going to Hell before Jesus returns to rule a sublime world where lambkins lie with lions for 1000 years. But "the Jews" must return to Israel before they get their Go To Heaven Free card. Any Jew who has anything to do with this variant of Christian teaching....
If you've got a bunch of people you believe are currently Hell-bound you can be moved to treat them one of two ways (perhaps there are more, but these modes tend to dominate):
1.) You don't want them to suffer eternally, so you treat them as well as you can to help convince them of the rightness of your cause, or at least of your good intentions with regard to them.
2.) You treat them as chaff that has already been destined for the fire; God's Judgement is upon them, and nothing you do to them could possibly compare to the horrors awaiting them forever, so why bother holding back, much less being nice.
Add to this that many of these folk are Calvinists, so their efforts at "saving" you are ultimately meaningless in their eyes except as an effort to fulfill Jesus' commandment that they try, and the total picture becomes weird.
I don't trust anyone who thinks that I deserve to be punished terribly, forever and ever (even if they nominally believe that they are at base the same, just "covered" by the blood of a tortured man), that most of my relatives went straight from the gas chamber to the Lake of Fire. People who believe in a psychotic God will at best fail at trying to be as nutty, or worse might succeed.
Good morning. Mostly every Christian thinks the Jews need to be converted. Mostly every Christian thinks the Jews are going to hell. I'm sorry, there is no shock here. And that was a guest of her minister, not her minister. Not to say she doesn't believe it, but thank G-d, there is separation of church and state in America.
What, it's better I be the typical fawning liberal Jew and vote for a man who already flipflopped on the Jerusalem issue as soon as the Arabs let loose a holler?

It is important for Jews to know why our religion is the real thing, both for our own sake, and to counter false interpretations of our Torah. http://www.outreachjudaism.org/ is a great website to counter the lies of Jews for Jesus. Rabbi Tovia Singer teaches the beauty of Torah in an understandable, strong and often humorous way explaining the false reasoning, scriptural misquotes and false references of the Christian theology. You can download his tapes from this site for free or buy them or buy his instruction manual if you prefer. This is a legitimate site which I have no connection to and you can accesss it without joining or making donations if you don't want to.
I will probably vote for Obama. If he does something about alternative energy and takes some of the petro-dollars away from the countries that hate the USA and Israel it will be good for all of us, but I wish he was stronger on the unification of Jerusalem. Maybe the Israeli government will be changed for the better soon and they will do more to protect our heritage and holy places. My wife and I recently visited friends and family there. We were fortunate to see many ordinary Yerushalmis (residents of Jerusalem) in addition to great rabbis and appreciate the hospitality, kindness and learning of them and their wives and children. We have a wonderful heritage and should keep it alive and learn more.
I can understand that there will be Jewish people who are afraid that Palin may have been taught that Jews need to believe in Jesus to have everlasting life, and that the God of the Universe, the One who called out Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has been judging them. For a Jewish person who has been taught that God loves everyone and that all "good" people go to heaven, this can be a concern.
But this is exactly what the Hebrew Scriptures say! Neither David Brickner nor Pastor Kroon are making these things up. They are simply communicating what the T'Nakh says. The T'Nakh says that the God of Israel has declared "My people are destroyed for lock of knowledge; because they have rejected knowledge." (Prophet Hosea ch4 v6).
Jewish people need not be afraid of Bible-believing, Israel-supporting Christians; to do so ignores history and the Hebrew Scriptures. Not everyone who says they are a Christian is. But if you do not want to personally know your God, then you have made a choice to ignore Him and His instructions at your own peril. You are certainly free to make that choice, but a true Christian will love Jewish people, even to the point of risking their scorn, that they may not be ignorant and find eternal life.
Jewish people simply need to read their own Scriptures and see that their promised Jewish Messiah has come and fulfilled what the prophets testified about. Read your Scriptures and do not be deceived by the traditions of men. And do not let people use you as political pawns by trying to scare you.

I am appalled at what I am reading here! I find that the traditional Torah Observant Jew seems to have a faulty outlook on Evangelical Christianity.

The Strain of Christian right that absolutely loves "the Jews"?
Let me say that I have read the entire message preached by "Jews for Jesus", and I find that the Preacher has this love for Israel and the Jew! The entire concept of Preaching the Gospel, at ones own peril, is rooted and grounded in love for His fellow Jew! No where does the "Jews for Jesus" ever advocate or publish that they believe that persecution of the Jews is acceptable! The "Jews for Jesus", like most evangelicals, believe and practice the words of Yeshua;
Matthew 5:44-45
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
We are commanded to love one another even those "Jews" whose doctrines and beliefs are contrary to ours!
Why would the Jewish man say that "Jews for Jesus" want to kill "HIS PEOPLE"?

The "Jews for Jesus" are also Jews! Do the strictist Orthodoxy Torah Observant Jews of the Sephardic community feel that the more liberal Ashkenazi community are not "HIS PEOPLE"? Is there a lesser love between Sephardic and Ashkenazi, then there is between the Jews of other Minhagim (customs)?
I find it appalling to think that any Jew would readily accept Islam, or tolerate Islam and yet condemn a "Jew for Jesus"! How twisted!
"Jews for Jesus" are very much an asset for Israel and the Sephardic community! "Jews for Jesus" love their fellow Jews and country, they are willing to lay down their lives for them!
On the other hand, the Islamic people that the Orthodox Jews are so willing to tolerate, give chances to and place within Greater Israel, they are allowed to speak freely, and hold the temple mount!
All the "Jews for Jesus" want to do is to be allowed the courtesy to speak publicly without fear of groups of Orthodox Jews trying to lay hands upon them! The Orthodox Jews allow the Islamic people to hold the temple mount and to defecate upon the Western Wall! Yet they will not allow a simple fellow countrymen to exercise the right to freely practice "Jews for Jesus" which is completely grounded in the Torah!
The Orthodox Jews have forgotten! The "Jews for Jesus" and evangelicals have no doctrine that allows persecution, we follow after LOVE! But the Catholics have a doctrine which calls for Jewish prejudice and HOLOCAUST! Inspite of the Catholic Church and it's history of infallability, you still want to elect Obama and Biden!
Senator Biden is a Catholic! He was raised Catholic! He attended Catholic School! The Church that he follows still has within their doctrine the same beliefs that quantified the HOLOCAUST! Just because the Catholics are not killing Jews right now, at this very moment, doesn't mean that the Catholics will not experience a spiritual awakening that leads them to be more DOCTRINAL observant later! They collectively, or individually, may move to the right at any time! Haven't you learned your lesson from Islam? Time and time again the moderate Islam moves to the right to become extreme, because of personal revelation, or personal conflict, or whatever spiritually justifiable reason for that person!
The problem is that the Anti-Semitic doctrine is there! It exist within the writings of their respective beliefs, whether Catholic or Islam, all it takes is a shift in ones mentality to decide to be more Religiously observant in their faith!
Not so with "Jews for Jesus" or evangelicals! We are bound by the doctrine of Yeshua, LOVE!

Yeshua's words and our belief clearly indicate that we are KILLED and not the Orthodox Jew! All the "Jews for Jesus" want to do is to be allowed to speak peaceably and publicly, without being accosted by our fellow Jew. You give the Islamic Nations more freedom, perhaps out of fear! What do you have to fear from your fellow countrymen "Jews for Jesus"?
If you elect Obama and Biden you will be "TRUSTING" in a man that is a "SON OF GREECE". You turn back to those which have smitten you, the Catholics!

I am constantly reading about the SONS OF GREECE in the Jerusalem Post! The Catholic vs Jews tensions are ever growing! Especially since the Catholics are one of the largest landholders in Israel! The world keeps pressuring Israel to give away land, all the while the Catholics insist upon keeping their Holy Sites! Not so with the evangelicals, we believe that the land is Israels, and we believe in a Greater Israel! We do not believe in relinguishing land for peace, THE ROAD MAP! Israel should not give into the terrorist, neither should they concede to giving land away!
With this in mind, Who do you want? McCain and Palin (evangelicals) or Obama and Biden (Who knows and Catholic doctrine)!
If the tensions keep growing between the Sons of Greece (Catholics) and the Sons of Zion (Jews), which way do you think Senator Biden will move? To the right within Catholic doctrine!
Don't forget many of our supreme court Justices have just been appointed and they are Catholic also. What we have here is the recipe for a disaster! If the conflict between Jews and Catholics continues to grow and a Catholic death occurs in Israel-
We shall see an outcry from Catholics screaming "Matyrdom of Christians"! This will put all Jews in a very bad place and if Biden is VP, a very bad place indeed!!
It is time that the Jews define their alliances! Categorize the Christendom Doctrines into Catholic and Protestant and definitively recognize that Evangelicals (such as McCain and Palin) are not Anti-Semitic Holocaust Nazi Activist!
"Jews for Jesus" and most Evangelicals are for Israel as a Nation and are not for the ROAD MAP to PEACE, that the Quartet of Nations are pushing! We Love our Sephardic and Ashkanzic Jewish brethren, even if your beliefs are different than ours!
Remember that it is not in our doctrine to persecute, or kill anyone, but rather to Love our Neighbor, especially our Judaeo Heritage Brother-"The Jew".
It seems that some Jews are failing to recognize the History of America! How did America begin? Why did people seek out another homeland - America?
I believe that Protestants believers were fleeing the Inquisition of the Catholic Church! “We the People”- the evangelical people of the United States wanted separation of the Church (Catholic) and State! Every since the birth of the US, the Jews have enjoyed peaceable prosperous citizenship within this country as joint compatriots to freedom and equality! It was the evangelical tolerance and love that allowed this! For you to categorically place American evangelic Christians into the same Anti-Semitic class as Catholics, it is degrading!
Because there has been, and will continually be, a special LOVE existent within the heart of the American Evangelic for the Sons of Jacob. Many evangelical Christians would like to think of ourselves as true “Righteous Gentiles”, just as the ones that are listed at the Yad Vashem Museum in Jerusalem.
I believe that we are in a time within the History of Israel that is described in Judges Chapter 9.

I am preparing a place of refuge for the Jew! The upcoming persecution of the Jews is at hand and I believe it is coming from the Obama - Biden (president - VP) if elected. There may be a chance if the Heavenly Father postpones the message! I pray so!
But, nevertheless, I am preparing for the worst to help the Jew escape persecution! My life for His life, just as Yeshua laid down His life! So, why does the Jews continually frame the evangelical as though we were NAZI’s?
We are not Catholic, nor are we American Evangelicals the same protestants that stood by in Europe watching the HOLOCAUST!
We are American Evangelicals and our American History of tolerance for the Jewish people speaks for itself! And the “Jews for Jesus” are also JEWS! We would never allow the Nation of Israel, “Jews for Jesus”, Sephardic Jews, Ashkenazic Jews, all JEW CITIZENRY Israel, to suffer HOLOCAUST again!
We are determined to be the EPITOME of “NEVER AGAIN”!

Like Dewmanna, I am a gentile who through my belief and trust in the Jewish Messiah, Yeshua, am grafted into the People of G-d (ekklesia in greek, kahal in Hebrew). My salvation is from the Jews. How would any gentile know about the one true G-d if not for the Jews who have been the ones to reveal the truth. They have been G-d's emmissaries. True believers are like Ruth, a gentile woman who said "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me." True believers love the Jewish people regardless as to whether they ever, ever believe in Yeshua. We are your friends for life, and would lay down our lives for you as righteous gentiles did during the Holocaust. Yeshua predicted false followers in his name. All religions have false followers. As a believer, I am aligned with the Jewish people, the people of the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
In the 4th century, Emperor Constantine instituted a new religion called Christianity. Constantine did not stop worshipping his sun god until he was practically on his death bed. Christianity became the state religion and began to be spread by the sword. This false religion did away with the Law (spirit of lawlessness) and the Lord's feasts. It persecuted all Jews, even the Jewish believers in Yeshua. Even our Birthday celebrations are rooted in Roman Mithraism, which is why gentiles celebrate Christmas, a pagan holiday and the "birthday of baby Jesus." Yeshua never began a new religion called Christianity.

If you are Jewish, I beseech you to ask yourselves, if you believe in the coming of Messiah and yearn for His coming, what if Messiah comes today? Will your religion come to an end, or will it be fulfilled?
Palin is like Esther, who was adopted by Mordecai and given a gentile name to hide her Jewish identity. Her Jewish name was Hadassah. She underwent beauty treatments (Beauty Queen?) and out of nowhere (Palin who?) she was placed in government at the right moment to save the Jewish people from annihilation by evil Haman (Persion? like Ahmedinejad). I am a 24-year-old Christian and I fear Barack Obama. I do not love McCain or Palin, but they are fair-minded. Obama speaks to the center of the spectrum, but he has spent his life with the militant ultra-left. If he is elected, he will not govern from the center. He will govern from the venomous left-wing of the Reverand WRight and Ayers and Revko and the other lefties with whom he grew up and associated. If Obama wins, the America we love will disappear. We will become a socialist state like France or a nation like Saudi Arabia or Syria.
Well, I am an Obama voter, but I think this level of religious scrutiny is unacceptable. She sat down in a church while her pastor introduced someone to give a controversial speech. What did you expect her to do, leave the church? Is it not a crime to listen to someone's speech? Also, she lives in an area where there is probably very few options for churches. I think it's just a humongous smear campaign here.

The America I loved doesn't start WARS, the America I loved respects the right to PROTEST and defends FREE SPEECH, the America I loved did not allow WAR PROFITEERING on NO-BID WAR CONTRACTS, the America I loved did NOT allow elections to be STOLEN/RIGGED, the America I loved was RESPECTED. Chavah, you are soooo right about everything you wrote. McCain has a BIG hand in the Sell-Out of America. To hell with the use of the beauty queen to distract us. McCain is out of touch with the real Americas - The Multicultural, money in-money out, pay day to pay day lives that we are living. He has not said a thing in his speeches that pertain to me. And I’m still not convinced that is the Governor’s 6 month old baby. Don’t you have to be in the same state with the baby while the baby is being born in? First of all Ms Disgusted, McCain did not and is not responsible for the past 8 years, he was not the president. The legislation passed by a DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS is responsible. I do agree that this country is unrecognizeable and largly as I see it because we are so tolerant of everything and everyone. Even you voicing your disgust, you have no problem with disrespecting your country. Everyone should set an example. The world see us insulting and calling our Commander in Chief names of total disrespect. That is over the line for Free Speach And so we are vulnerable. I do not see civilized Protests, I see vandalism and fighting and more disrespect because these protestors are protesting everyone else's rights to have a choice. They are not peaceful. It is the president's obligation and should be to protect his country, whether that means going to war or not.
David Brickenr is not a Jew. His mother is not Jewish, and obviously, he has never lived a Jewish life. So he cannot be a JEW for Jesus. He is Gentile for Jesus. Palin's church, along with the wave of evangelicals determined to 'save' the Jews-- are committing the ultimate act of disrespect when they persist in proselytizing. Whether claiming to do this 'lovingly' or not; any unsolicited proselytizing is inherently disrespectful and disdainful of the person or persons being proselytized. What Palin and her minions also do not understand is that large numbers of Jews (the majority actually), are not Orthodox, do not don talit or yamulkes, but are members of the Reformed Judiasm community. Reformed Jews afford women full equality (unlike the Orthodox community), and though schooled in all customs--it is up to each individual's conscience whether and how to follow such customs. I am so sick and tired of the Jewish people being misrepresented as one homogenious group, (namely Orthodox), when the opposite is true. In fact, it has been argued that the group who most closely follows Christ's original teachings are --Reform Jews. I have great respect and love for Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Agnostics, Atheists, etc., as fellow human beings. I do not proselytize out of respect for my fellow human beings. Just as you would not enter someone's house and criticise their customs, etc., you should not enter someone else's house of worship and attempt to 'save' them. In essence the very action of such proselytizing serves as a blatant statement of fault, and misdeeds, stating that ...'we'll save you from your own stupid ways.' Make no mistake; PROSELYTIZING IS AN AFFRONT AND AN INSULT TO THE WAYS OF THE OTHER. As for Palin; her friendship with Pat Buchanan--A RABID ANTI-SEMITE, speaks volumes.

I'm tired of war, lies, and the Republicans scaring Americans of all religions when it comes to the Middle East and Israel. I believe, in my heart, that America will always stand by Israel. It's time for change, and I believe that Mr. Obama, with the advise of experienced people of all faiths, will bring that change about. He's a smart man with a world view, and whether we like it or not, the world is smaller now and countries are more dependent upon one and other more than ever before. It's a dangerous time, and we must make every effort to get along.
