Good Bye
Today is my last day at Beliefnet (which I co-founded in 1999). The swirling emotions: sadness, relief, love, humility, pride, anxiety.
But mostly deep, deep gratitude.
How many people get to come up with an idea and have rich people invest money to make it a reality? How many people get to create

My Big News
Dear Readers,
This is the most difficult (and surreal) post I've had to write. I'm leaving Beliefnet, the company I co-founded in 1999.
In mid November, I'll be stepping down as President and Editor in Chief to lead a project on the future of the media for the Federal Communications Commission, the

Secularizing the Cross (Christian Activists: Be Careful What You Wish For)
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments this week, in Buono v. Salazar, about whether a white 6 1/2 foot cross can be displayed in a national park as a tribute to World War I soldiers. Though it's depicted as a classic clash of the secular and the religious, it actually illustrates why Christian act

Sarah, you are way off base and need to wake up and smell the coffee. How could you even think of condoning some one who is a Muslim or of Muslim descent? Just go to the link, http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5354, where these are facts, substantiated. In his book, he states, “If shove comes to push, I will side by the Muslims”, read his book. How does anyone get the name, “Barak “Hussein” Obama”, and not come from Muslim descent? Where do you get off implying that Barak is a Jewish name? He is a totally anti-Semitic. He would actually sit down with that terrorist, Ahmadinejad, and negotiate at the risk of the state of Israel being annihilated. You are typical of the extreme left wing socialist liberal. Trust me, not all Jews share your belief. The majority of Jews I know and associate with, about 85% (including me, as I am also a Jew, and proud of it), think that Barak Hussein Obama “bin Laden”, should not be president or even a senator of this great country. It is also on record that his wife hates white people, let alone Jews. So my dear Sarah, before you go out doing your off the wall “commentary”, I suggest you get your facts straight. Voting for Mc Cain is the only wise and good choice for us Jews, Israel and our country.

This is a wonderful piece of agitprop. I just wanted to point out that Baruch does not mean “lightning” but “blessed.” If you don’t believe me, check out this article by David Scheim in the Washington Post (August 28):

It’s well researched, with enough facts about Obama’s name to fascinate grandparents of other faiths as well!
