Very weird watching Lieberman. I was at the Democratic convention when it nominated Lieberman.
Does anyone mind that Lieberman’s appeal to end partisanship comes right after a highly partisan speech from Thompson and Bush’s attack on the “angry left”?
Ackkkk! “What you can expect from John McCain as President is precisely what he has done this week: which is to put country first.” That’s the 983rd instance of a Republican talking about how great Republicans are for not trying to promote the Republican Party during the natural disaster.

I thought it was quite shrewd to offer up Lieberman as the witness of McCain’s willingness to reach across party lines. He definitely trumped Obama on that. The Democrats tried to anticipate this by pointing out that McCain has agreed with Bush on the big issues lately, but McCain was bipartisan before he was partisan.
Tepid applause when he mentioned McCain’s bipartisan efforts on immigration and judicial appointees — both efforts that made him loathed by conservatives. That part was for the folks in TV-Land, not the hall.
The comparison of Obama to Clinton struck me as one of the fairest critiques levelled by the McCain campaign so far.
“When others wanted to retreat in defeat from the field of battle, when Barack Obama was voting to cut off funding for our troops on the ground,” I’m looking forward to the post-game analysis on what this is referring to. It’s either a trenchant, devastating point or one of the most scurrillous charges that can be levelled.
