Well, I remember it because I noted..
If you read the lyrics of the song, it isn’t about one guy coming to save us all. It is about the people joining together. BUT.. it never really made any play at the time, wasn’t part of the Obama campaign, neither paid for nor endorsed by them.
I’m guessing the reason it is making the rounds again has more to do with the McCain campaign, trying to play up that ‘Messiah’ angle in its casting about for anything to throw at Obama at the end run toward the election.

I watched a bit of it when it was put up before (when CrunchyCon did an entry about it) and couldn’t figure out what the heck they were trying to do. Forest Whitaker’s weird motion touching the top of his head – what is that supposed to mean? I couldn’t even watch it to the end because it was so darned idiotic.
Just because some benighted Obama supporters think this will help him get elected doesn’t mean we have to take it seriously. I’m not supporting Obama because Forest Whitaker touches the top of his head, but because I think Obama will be a far better President than John McCain.

I don’t know about the head thing. Is that something people who shave their heads do like we brush back our hair?
yeah, I never paid much attention to it the first time, have never even seen the thing outside of bloggers, pundits and youtube viewings. *shrug*
