Good Bye
Today is my last day at Beliefnet (which I co-founded in 1999). The swirling emotions: sadness, relief, love, humility, pride, anxiety.
But mostly deep, deep gratitude.
How many people get to come up with an idea and have rich people invest money to make it a reality? How many people get to create

My Big News
Dear Readers,
This is the most difficult (and surreal) post I've had to write. I'm leaving Beliefnet, the company I co-founded in 1999.
In mid November, I'll be stepping down as President and Editor in Chief to lead a project on the future of the media for the Federal Communications Commission, the

Secularizing the Cross (Christian Activists: Be Careful What You Wish For)
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments this week, in Buono v. Salazar, about whether a white 6 1/2 foot cross can be displayed in a national park as a tribute to World War I soldiers. Though it's depicted as a classic clash of the secular and the religious, it actually illustrates why Christian act

It appears the right wing won’t even look at this article. After all , it commits a grave sin to the right wing- it tells them what they don’t want to hear. The liberal media reported on Rev. Wright more than any other story this election year?
I’m not surprised, but the right wing will be stunned. How will they square this with the myth of the ‘liberal media bias’?
Here’s how. They will ignore this, or say it isn’t true.

Once the economy hit the skids, Obama could have been videoed walking down the street holding hands with Rev. Wright and it would not have made a difference.

I believe the McCain campaign did more harm than good when they tried to portray Obama as an extremist through ties to ex-pastors, domestic terrorism, and what have you. Nobody bought into it. He could have tried to scored points with Obama’s extremism on abortion and his pledge to sign FOCA, but I guess the tact was that people were more concerned with the economy. Even so, it was window-dressing and a house of cards as usual as raising taxes kept being cut in half from $500k incomes to $250k to $125k (and probably still diving) plus capital gains increases which would effect virtually everyone except the worst off.
Then again, I’m just one in a hundred million of Tuesday Morning quarterbacks unhappy with the McCain campaign (and not too happy with his politics either.)

Obama IS an extremist and in a short time it will tell.

The question is why are YOU pandering to them? Isn’t there something positive to focus on? Try change.org if you need material. Sorry Steve your blogs have lost their flavor. Must we drag out this election nonsense? The economy is crumbling. THAT’S what we care about! Focus on what is REAL, what is happening RIGHT NOW, cut the drama. We’re bored already…jeez….

So much for the “liberal” mainstream media.

Some believe that Obama will be our “anti-christ”? At least, here in Texas, some believe.
I find it very strange that this man came from “nowhere” and is now our president-elect? Am I the only “odd” one who feels that it would not have mattered how the voting went, he would still have been elected. My vote didn’t account for squat as the upper government wanted “this man” in office because he is just as dishonest as they are. Only my feelings-let’s not get all worked up over this.
I just don’t trust our government any longer.

The “liberal” main stream media may still be alive and well.

I believe that this Obama is a devout Muslim and a hater of America.
I think he intends to bring down our country in any way he can.
Converting us to a Socialist government is the best & fastest way
to accomplish this. His pandering to foreign leaders is another
indication of his intent. His plan is most likely to try to merge
the U.S. with other nations into a “one world” entity. Our only
hope is that “We The People” can fight back through the Tea Parties
and other means to defeat him. The Liberal Press (Lamestream Press)
has already been crippled to a certain extent. They are the primary
reason he was able to get elected in the first place. It appears
that some of them have already begun to have second thoughts about
him.
