Prayers for the Economically “Redundant”

The Church of England has published this prayer, called “Prayer On Being Made Redundant”:
“Hear me as I cry out in confusion, help me to think clearly, and calm my soul.”

Good Bye
Today is my last day at Beliefnet (which I co-founded in 1999). The swirling emotions: sadness, relief, love, humility, pride, anxiety. But mostly deep, deep gratitude. How many people get to come up with an idea and have rich people invest money to make it a reality? How many people get to create

Secularizing the Cross (Christian Activists: Be Careful What You Wish For)
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments this week, in Buono v. Salazar, about whether a white 6 1/2 foot cross can be displayed in a national park as a tribute to World War I soldiers. Though it's depicted as a classic clash of the secular and the religious, it actually illustrates why Christian act

Thank you for posting this article. It closely aligns with my personal website dealing with prayer and hope. (bayheartmusic.com/prayerroom) Since the middle of last year, I’ve wondered why prayer has not been a part of mainstream US discourse in response to our troubled financial times. Why is it marginalized to sermons and niche marketing? We put God’s name on our currency, but we’re shy about issuing a public prayer. I suppose the Church of England has bit of a captive audience allowing them to do so. We have “-illionaires” taking their own lives, and some destroying the lives of others, as spiritual indicators that things are going terribly wrong. Yet, there is hope found in prayer. I love America—not pining for another country’s ways. I just see the Anglican national prayer as bold a step for recovery as any financial stimulus packaged being planned.

Thank you as I found myself fearfully striving with my financial irresponsibility and drowning in debt I found no answer in man and was forced to acknowledge that I needed help from a place bigger than myself. So I prayed. As the mountain of debt looms so my faith in God grows greater, seeking answers from Him. Only God can deliver me. So I post this note seeking the prayers of others for I know God answers prayer. And I know that my struggle and the miracle of my deliverance from debt will be part of the message and ministry and will be a testament of His mercy and my deliverance from debt.

I made stupid financial choices and have kept them from my husband. I have been trying to fix things but it is a long and lonely process. Please help me find the peace in my heart to share this burden with my husband and pray that our debt situation diminishes. I also pray for those that are also in need.

Lord God,
I ask that you answer the prayers of those in need of a financial blessing. I am one of those, but I am asking you send those whose needs out way my own the help, love and supoport they need in these troubled times. I may not be able to offer monetary assistance but I offer my love and prayers to those who are struggle to keep food on the table and a roof overhead like me. God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Praise be to God. Know that he hears and grants all prayers.

Dear God, I am still in fear of where me and my daughter and husband will be living by the first of this month. I love the house we are in but I fear that since I have been a stay at home mom and my husband got laid off. He started his own business but its been slow and bills are piling up. We were blessed a year ago to stay at this house rent free but that time is ending and we dont know where to go or if we will be blessed financially to be able to stay here.Daycare is so expensive it would be counterproductive to put our 16 month old in since I dont have the credentials to make more than 8 bucks an hour. We need a miracle!! Please pray for us. I also want to pray for all the others in similar situations. Thank you God for hearing us and always answering prayers at the right time. You are a loving and abundant God and I have faith that all our prayers are being heard and we will be provided for during these times. I know some of us (me) have not done everything we could have done but I believe that you still show favor to those who seek you and are good people that want to help others. Thank you all and God bless.

Dear ccsm, ds, Baunie, Ashley higgs, Silas,
I know that we all need currency in order to live in this modern world. But I challenge you to pray in gratitude to God for what you already have and only to ask him to give you wisdom, wisdom to share with your love ones and also for everybody in need of help. Material things will come with no effort if you first acknowledge your purpose in your life. You need to start looking your hands as the hands of God.You need to see with the eyes of God. You need to perceive everything as the mind of God. So open your heat to your self to God and to everybody and I believe everything will follow in place. You are all in my heart and I will pray for you all. Be in gratitude at all times and remember that nothing its impossible for our God.
God bless you all,Your friend Vincent

Please pray for me. I have been out of work for over 2 months. I have been in a deep depression. I feel like I’m going in circles in slow motion. Jobs that I have applied to have rejected or declined me, eventhough I’m fully qualified. I desperately need a job. I’m getting further and further behind in my bills and I don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel. Can you all please pray that I get a great stable job, that I will love doing making more then a enough money to cover all my bills and so that I can begin to build a healthy savings account so that I can move on my own again.
Thank you all and blessings to you all

Heavenly Father, I pray you hear all of our prayers for financial help, in these desperate times. We are all your children, and right now some of us are desperately seeking monetary help to support our children, our loved ones, and ourselves. Allow us to be tools of love and light, as we go out in the world and make a living. Thank you so much for all the blessings we have. Please forgive us of our sins. May you look down on un and shed your mercy and grace on all of us.God, I am so grateful for all you have given us, our friends, and family

Dear Lord-My husband lost his job today. We now have no income, and no health insurance. Please help guide me, to be strong, supportive, understanding, thrifty and comforting to my family. Just as important as having enough money to live, is my Husband’s feeling of self worth. Please help us, and please help others who are going through this very trying experience. Amen.
