A Reiki Practitioner Vs. The Catholic Church: Reiki Healing Uses God's Love

Saturday March 28, 2009

A reader who says she's a Reiki practitioner disputes the Catholic Bishops' contention that, while Christian prayer calls on the divine, Reiki amounts to mere human manipulation of the body:

"I will tell you, I have asked God for a reiki attunement and God delivered. God loves you and when you ask for something to help others, God will bless you with it.... I will tell you from experience, the deeper and harder you pray from the heart while using reiki to help someone, the stronger the strength of the energy.

If reiki is "supersitition" why does the flow and strength increase with compassionate love? Prayer is asking for Love from the Divine. Reiki is channeling Love energy from the Divine Source."

Mr “I”, the truly incredible people on this planet are the ones who go out and assist others when needed, without the desire for recognition, recompense, or reward, which is exactly what Mikao Usui did after the earthquakes in Japan that I referred to earlier. Yet you accuse him of selfishness. I wonder how you can be so confident of this. Is everyone who ISN’T CHRISTIAN who gives to charities, works in shelters, volunteers with drug and alcohol rehab, works in third world countries, sponsors children who are badly off, gives generously and freely of time, skills, resources, and money, are all these people doing these things for selfish reasons? I don’t believe so.

You say I indulge in something that is of satanic attraction and that I gave my praise for healing to a reiki practitioner and a doctor rather than God. I thought it was pretty clear that I believed that ultimately, the healing came from God. If it will make you feel better, here it is... Praise God - I am healthy!

You also asked about “what” I include when I witness. That is about God, Christ, and a personal relationship. What do you include when you witness? I suspect we may cover a lot of the same ground. I try to use language however, that doesn’t make people feel as though they are being bashed around the head and force-fed a point of view. I am clear, concise, and polite.

All I ever asked you to do on this forum was temper your language. I did not ask you to change your point of view. I suggested it might be helpful for others to see your point of view more clearly if you changed your language. If you don’t want to do so, that’s your prerogative.

But do not confuse a personal sense of righteousness with that of righteous judgement. I will await the conclusion of my life to see how I am judged, and I will “judge not, lest ye be also judged.”

I am sure that God can forgive me any transgression - Christ forgave those who repented, regardless of what their sins were. If it turns out that I have sinned by being deceived into believing that Reiki is a gift from God, I am sure he can forgive that transgression. After all, I did ask Him about it when I was praying for guidance (ahhh, but you think I wasn’t really talking with Him...) Well, I asked. I certainly haven’t been told otherwise (and I do hear that still small voice - even Roman Catholics talk about listening to your conscience).

Doesn’t yours bother you sometimes? I know when mine bothers me, and in terms of Reiki, there has only ever been a strong positive response.

Thank you, God, for your many blessings in this life, including that of Reiki. Thank you most of all, for the on-going relationship we have, where I can bring anything to you, and You answer - even if it isn’t always the answer I might have hoped for! Like the child hoping to hear “yes”, it is sometimes “no”, and this I accept and act upon.

I agree with the posting. I am a Reiki Master/Practitioner and have been so since 1987. I have given sessions to women with cancer; both in the home setting and in the hospice setting. I have found when prayer is added through compassion the energy is stronger. Why would anyone deny a patient who is suffering, the gift of receiving a Reiki session which will bring peace and relief from pain.......?

What everyone doesn't understand is reiki isn't a religion. It is a form of alternative healing. It does help. Our hospitals around here have been using it. I guess the people who where using it in the catholic hospitals and it was working on them would miss it. I guess priest are going to come sit at hospitals and "pray" over everyone.....sad news this is....

Maybe the Cathloic Bishops should try a reiki session and feel the wave of energy go through their bodies and they try and explain how it works.
To deny all Catholics the benefit of this beautiful energy is something I as A CATHOLIC and a REIKI MASTER can not accept.
Maybe the bishops should go against the drug companies who are making billions and keeping us sick for profit.
Maybe the bishops should figure out why we can't keep believers in the Catholic church why we are losing our young to no religion or joining other religions.
Maybe the bishops can look into why we can't get young men to join the priesthood, or why they are afraid to have lay people involved more.
But, to calll Reiki superstitious or against the teachings of the catholic without knowing anything about the way our bodies have a natual way of healing is not right.
How do our cuts heal?? What animates us? Its the energy in and around us.
Reiki is a gentle energy that causes deep relaxation and helps our bodies heal ourselves.
I get to feel this energy everday and it helps with my chronic pain.
just thought i would share my opinion.

Its unfortunate to observe such fear coming from high clergy within the Catholic church. There is no other explanation except fear for such accusations being made by the bishops. We are all Divine sons and daughters and empowered through Christ Consciousness! Ofcourse we can heal ourselves and assist in the healing of others, it is our inheritance. Jesus claims this as such in the New Testament. Reiki is NOT religious based, it is a God-given gift that each person has within themself. I was born and raised Catholic and I am an Usui Reiki practitioner and an Angelic Reiki Master/Teacher. I have no guilt or doubts about providing and believing in the healing power of Reiki, because I know that it comes from Divine Source. People that come out against Reiki do so out of fear and a lack of knowledge. They would rather believe someone elses belief systems instead of forming their own.
To ALL Reiki practitioners and receivers...we don't need to get caught up in this drama, we are the observers, the do-ers, the movers and the shakers, and when all else fails (for example our healthcare system) we will prevail through the One True Source of Divine Love & Compassion.
