I'm proud to announce that one of the best religion bloggers on the internet, Amy Welborn, has begun writing for Beliefnet.
When Amy and I first started discussing her hanging her shingle here, she was full of ideas about politics and the church. (I was anticipating some lively argument with our outstanding left-of-center Catholic blogger David Gibson).
Then, a few days later those issues suddenly shrank to microscopic importance when Amy's husband suddenly died. Since then one of the most interesting political/cultural bloggers has become something even more rare: someone able to write about how faith is, or isn't, helping her through one of the most brutal challenges imaginable.
Welcome, Amy; welcome, Via Media.

I followed Ms. Wellborn in Our Sunday Visitor when I was an RC'er, and she's a delight. Congrats on her arrival here.
I was unaware that her husband died. What a tragedy! I will pray for her and her family.
