“Yes We Can!” Welcome Back “the Messiah” (The One From Brooklyn)

posted by swaldman | 7:36am Monday April 6, 2009

For those collecting examples of amusing or interesting uses of the Obama-esque rhetoric, here’s one we saw in Manhattan this Sunday. This is a picture of Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, the Lubavitch leader who, according to some of his followers, is the Messiah. This signs suggests improving the world to welcome him back.

Good Bye
Today is my last day at Beliefnet (which I co-founded in 1999). The swirling emotions: sadness, relief, love, humility, pride, anxiety. But mostly deep, deep gratitude. How many people get to come up with an idea and have rich people invest money to make it a reality? How many people get to create

My Big News
Dear Readers, This is the most difficult (and surreal) post I've had to write. I'm leaving Beliefnet, the company I co-founded in 1999. In mid November, I'll be stepping down as President and Editor in Chief to lead a project on the future of the media for the Federal Communications Commission, the

Secularizing the Cross (Christian Activists: Be Careful What You Wish For)
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments this week, in Buono v. Salazar, about whether a white 6 1/2 foot cross can be displayed in a national park as a tribute to World War I soldiers. Though it's depicted as a classic clash of the secular and the religious, it actually illustrates why Christian act

“This is a picture of Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, the Lubavitch leader who, according to his followers, is the Messiah.”
This is completely inaccurate. Some of his followers do believe that he is Moshiach (the Messiah) and others don’t.
Please change to “according to some of his followers.”

To DL:
as one who is active with chabad, I actually know the inside story:
All chabad followers believe hi is the messiah – some are just ashamed to publicly declare it, so steven’s first wording is correct.

No Danial, we all do not. Revering someone and believeing them the messiah are really two very different things. Please remember this before committing lashon hara against your fellow Yids.

Anyone who does not believe that his Rebbe is Moshiach is not a true Chasid. You can clearly derive many proofs going back to Talmud, Sanhedrin when the Talmidim of each Rav proclaimed that their Rav was Moshiach.
If someone is so weak in his emunah and bitachon, as well as being bitter, and clearly demonstating his lack of knowledge,is sad and he is to be pitied.
The main course of action is to follow our Rebbe who stated very clearly that the Nasi Hador is the Moshiach of the Dor (generation). So Baruch should start some serious study of the Rebbe’s sichos and get a life.

I am fully aware of what has transpired over the past 40 years there at 770 Lubavitch center. I’ve attended NCSY Shabbatons there that were personally visited by the Rav giving Moschiach inspirational lectures and handing out dollar bills(not on shabbos of course). Also I’ve been long time congregant and neighbor with a Lubavitcher at Congregation Sons of Israel, Asbury Park NJ. NEVER NEVER did the Rav ever claim to be the Moschiach. Furthermore it stands to reason that the Rav would not have been promoting doing tshuva/pennance to bring on the Moschaich if the Moschiach was alraedy ‘On’ ie. the Rav himself. This after death slander also explains some of the other past “false Messias” of record. The Moschiach is outright claiming who he is and he meets all the criteria of the Tanach, Mishna, ie. Torah. These Schneerson baiters are outright missdirecting heretic infiltrators and perverters of Judiasm. vov hey yud hey Oh-Yeah! I AM the Judge of THAT! Edward Schwarz cregarmags@yahoo.com
