Newsweek, the Bible, and Same-Sex Marriage

If you're not following this issue already, the place to begin is with Tony Jones, who, in calling the situation a "kerfuffle," reminds me that we should all be using that word as much as possible, and who does yeoman's work in summarizing a few days of reaction to Lisa Miller's cover story.

I've been otherwise occupied this week, and haven't had time to read all the relevant commentary, or look closely enough at Miller's article. More anon, if my constitution allows for it.

In part responding to Tony Jones via, you, Patton, there is a woman very qualified to write on religion and this issue, Dr. Edith Humphrey.

Over at Christianity Today, under their CT Classic, they have recently re-posted her article. Well written, nuanced, compassionate - check out http://www.ctlibrary.com/ct/2004/september/11.36.html
