Quote of the Day

Thursday June 4, 2009

It goes to Andrew Sullivan, who wrote of President Obama's Cairo speech,

At its heart, the speech sprang, it seemed to me, a spiritual conviction that human differences, if openly acknowledged, need not remain crippling. It was a deeply Christian - and not Christianist - address; seeking to lead by example and patience rather than seeking to impose from certainty.

No, Doug Groothuis found the quote of the day on Obama's speech. I quote him:

"The New York Times ends its story on Obama's speech in Cairo on America and Islam with this:
'Mr. Bahgat, who attended the speech at Cairo University, said that one of the most important elements of the speech was what was left out. β€œI think it was remarkable the speech left out the term terrorism completely,” he said. β€œIt may have been a paradigm shift for the United States, away from using this politically charged word.”'

Remarkable indeed. The ostrich strikes again--and jeopardizes the free world in the process."

Yeah, I think that's the quote of the day.

But...Terrorism doesn't make us feel better about ourselves!! And of course that is the highest possible goal yes? This is why we elected the man, because he made us "feel" better about by postulating Utopian ideologies and ignoring reality.
