SIT-A-LONG with JUNDO: First Timer

posted by jundo cohen | 6:12pm Thursday February 28, 2008
Today, for our last day in the U.S., I have the pleasure to sit with my cousin Jonnie. He’s a complete Zen neophyte, never done this before.

It gives me a chance to explain ‘everything you want to know about Zazen’ in under 5 minutes!

Nice sitting Jonnie. Have a safe flight Jundo. By the way, what is the meaning of the swaying left and right after the sitting? To flex the body a bit after staying in one position for so long? I just noticed I’ve started to do the same thing after watching sit-a-longs and I was curious as to why.

Haha, it was like a Zen infomercial! — “You sir, have you even encountered Zen before?”– “No, I have not.”– “Then sit right here and put your hands like this.”– “Wow, I can actually feel the universe becoming one!”– “Yes! And for easy payments of 20mins a day for the rest of your life, this feeling can become yours!”Haha, good show! Thanks Jundo and JonnieCheers,Kelly M.
