NOTE FROM JUNDO: THANK YOU TO ALL THE FOLKS WHO WROTE. LEON IS DOING FINE TODAY. AMAZING HOW FAST KIDS CAN RECOVER SOMETIMES.Spent the evening in the emergency room for our son ... sudden 40C/104F fever ...He's ok now...

About Treeleaf Zen
Jundo Cohen is a Soto Zen Priest and founder and teacher of the Treeleaf Zendo--a Zen sangha (community) located in Tsukuba, Japan. Jundo was ordained in 2002 and subsequently received Dharma Transmission from Master Gudo Wafu Nishijima. He is a member of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association and American Zen Teachers Association . His blog, Treeleaf Zen, was designed specifically for Zen practitioners who cannot easily commute to a Zen Center due to health concerns, living in remote areas, or childcare and family needs.

very sorry about your son.
a fever as high as 104 can be reasonably dangerous.not always, but sometimes.
even if he has a predisposition for spiking high with fever, there might be a few things that you can do to prevent it in the future. Simple things, like a few drops of some herbal medicine in his juice??
maybe a Holistic MD could find some things that the regular doctors missed??
The book "Prescription for Nutritonal Healing" by Dr. James Balch and Phyllis Balch has a nice section on fever. Usually can pick up a used copy on Amazon for a few dollars plus shipping.
