Bail for Zimmerman; new photo from scene released
In what has to be a good day for George Zimmerman, he was granted bail by the new judge presiding over his case. And ABC News released a photo that was taken the night of the incident between Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin which appears to offer credence to Zimmerman’s account.
A Florida judge has set bail for at $150,000 for George Zimmerman, who is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

The bail was announced at a hearing Friday, shortly after Zimmerman took the witness stand, telling the parents of Martin, “I am sorry for the loss of your son,” but standing by his claim that he killed the teen in self-defense.
Earlier in the morning ABC News posted a new photo taken by one of Zimmerman’s neighbors showing a graphically bloody view of the back of Zimmerman’s head shortly after the confrontation with Trayvon Martin. The graphic bloody photo is shown at the end of this post.
The person who took the photograph of a bloodied Zimmerman, asking not to be identified, told ABC News exclusively that they did not see the scuffle that night, but did hear it. The person recalled seeing Martin’s prostrate body on the wet grass and said the gunpowder burns on Martin’s gray hoodie were clearly visible.
Zimmerman took the opportunity in open court to tell the parents of Trayvon Martin that he is sorry their son is dead.
“I am sorry for the loss of your son. I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little bit younger than I am. I did not know if he was armed or not,” Zimmerman said addressing Martin’s family directly.
