Ginny Owens set to release first full-length studio album in five years

It’s been five years since Ginny Owens last released a full-length studio album. That drought will come to an end tomorrow with the release of the tongue-in-cheek titled Get In, Im Driving. The new collection of songs contains bits and pieces of Owens’ vast influences that include soul, RNB, blues, jazz and pop.

Written originally with an independent release in mind, Owens’ says that she’s thankful she was ultimately able to collaborate with a small, like-minded label (Soul Stride Records) that was unconcerned about producing radio hits and more interested in creative integrity.

“It doesn’t feel like its been five years. It feels like its been really busy,” Owens told Whole Notes. “But having a record take two years to complete is too long so I’m just excited that we’re at this point. It feels like it’s time to dive back in.”

Check back later this week for the full transcript of the Whole Notes interview with Owens.
