I feel conflicted about a company like this. I think I would also see the possible as Allianz doing something to remember the victims of the Holocaust in a visible and penitent way
Jo, Sydney (Australia)
Mercedes Benz supplies the buses to Eged buses in Israel.
BMW is extremely popular in Israel. If I'm not mistaken they did a fair share of business with the German army in WWII. Fact is on the assembly line of all German companies we will find people whose grandfather must have been in the Nazi army by choice or not.
Is Alianz link to the Nazis stronger than Mercedes because of the past CEO? Not sure at all.
My family have their fare share of Holocaust casualties and survivors. Personally I see little reason to draw a line at Alianz. I have little to no problem with this transaction.
I am also very conflicted on this issue.
Growing up "low-income", I always wanted to be able to have a Mercedes when I grew up.
Then I recently went to the Holocaust Museum in DC and found out that Mercedes and BMW very happily made use of Jews in concentration camps as slave labor. Now, I'm leaning towards Jaguar.... Okay, j/k - not in a car shopping mode now; just trying to make a point.
Has Allianz become a "good corporate citizen", and how do we know?
(Ditto Mercedes and BMW.)
Maybe, once the stadium is ready for use, and the name goes up in lights, they could change the spelling a little to "ALLIANCE". That would give it a more positive tone. It's been 60 years since WWII and the Nazis, and while we should never forget it, and prevent it from ever happening again, shouldn't we move forward? Shouldn't we also do as God asks, "Forgive one another as I have forgiven you?"
Sure use the name Alianz and have IBM track ticket sales just like IBM tracked Jews for the Nazi war machine. Do people have any consciousness..Unbelievable!!!
Is the Allianz named being affixed to honor Nazis? Is the company doing corporate evil right now like AXIS, the French insurance company, or UNUM the American insurance company? Both are atrocious corporate citizens whose businesses practices have killed thousands and brought horrible misery to tens of thousands of other Americans by wrongfully denying disability insurance benefits. Is Allianz doing that?
Are they naming it Halliburton or Blackwater? Or Rumsfled or Cheney? or Arafat?
Now is the a time to judge people who are living today by their actions.
you know its funny how we here in america forget the past so qwikly.
the motto being "that was then this is now" we are so eager to do business with everybody there past doesnt really matter ..howabout the japanese.they attached with out cause ,and they are the biggest business partner that america has.frankly i believe that all of germanys products should have a price cao bmws for no more that 15k each, mercedes no more than20k each.period.we do business with all these countrys because we need to lock in their economys to our own ,,alwats keep in mind we still are the largest consumers of meverything , you dont like a company then dont buy their products..
futher more what we should do is provide a list of these companys and their sub companys so that we can really know who is what and were.just like when some people showed the companys that france has in america.. do the same then you can spend your dollar more wisely. does thatr make sense??
This is not about forgaveness or changing things. This about money and greed of the powers that be,wake up people. We are being soild out by the powers that be.A lot of the beer companys and movie companys or owned by people overseas, now this.If we don't stand for something, we are going to keep faling for anything.God did say forgave and He also said don't be no fool.
if you devote tooo much energy to the past you have none for the present or the future when it becomes the present. Mercedes would be out of business without their "Jewish customers"
No matter what present day conduct might be, the past is always a taint that can't be washed away, especially one as heinous as the Allianz has. What have they done to prove themselves 'Jewish friends'? Fair labor practices? Reasonable pricing of their product? Jewish outreach in their community? Support of Israel and its objectives? Frankly, I believe they want a grab of the American pie by being placative, funding the new stadium. I, for one, am not convinced.
Thank you for enlightening me with this info. As a Jet season ticket holder, I plan to fight this or make people aware. I'm happy that they are getting rid of the name, Giants but we need to find a better sponsor.
They need to find a "better" sponsor, and not simply go for the one most willing to pay outrageous fees to see their name up in lights! How about "American Citizen" Stadium since it is our tax money (in one way or another)that eventually pays for these stadiums.
a perfect perspective and well-framed question, to which I ask the same question......action, not words are the real proof.
military buildings in the shape of the nazi symbol, technologies used by many developed by nazi scientists, sponsorship of qualified nazi businesses, the list is endless, hitlers vision of a germanic world power was his only misinterpretation, for it is the decendants who are slowly trying to bring that vision to reality and with isreal in a precarious position between a rock and a hard place, who gets it in the neck when all this erupts, yes the jews and the rest which are spread out among the christian faiths will slowly be assimilated into their respective countries thus the end of judaism is effected, just as the romans destroyed/converted its conquered indigenous peoples through trade, wealth, sex and power.
THE WARNING HAS BEEN SPOKEN AND WRITTEN
Ok, they need a sponsor but why Allianz?
My oldest brother was a kid in eastern Europe during the Holocaust. His experiences led him to take the position of not buying any German products or having them in his home. When He realized his Braun coffee maker was such a product, he removed it. When I informed him that Gillette, an American company now owned Braun, he still refused to have it. He said that reparations bt Germany to Israel were made in products rather than cash, therefor there's a lot of Mercedes and other German products in Israel. It was, he understood, the only way to make Germany pay without revisiting their financial downfall between the 2 wars and causing a third world war with German protagonists.
My father's opinion was don't buy 'new' German products. But a used VW was okay, if I so chose.
So the bigger question is how long are the companies that once aided the 3rd Reich to be held liable for it? I doubt anyone working for them in that era are still alive, let alone working there.
Is Allianz a good corporate citizen today? Is it at least not a scoundrel in its current business practices? And, if you hold those companies in contempt, do you do the same for Ford and IBM and a host of other American companies who chased the almighty buck in Germany in that time and place?
Sell your shares in them, never buy their products, stop driving their cars, and stop wearing that Hugo Boss suit? No more frankfurters or hamburgers either?
Even the Israel Symphony played Wagner a couple of years ago.
Remember and learn from the past; don't live in it.
Some freedom fries, anyone?
yes, it does seem to be a scorecard with debt for Allianz. And our world history and revalation is under scrutiny with New York at the helm. Please realise we are ever observant of proper association and direction. Allianz could promote understanding and bridge great gaps. But mostly they are a football stadium shopper. It is our job to leave spiritual Babylon.
Go liberty!
I agree that we should not forget the past, but not be imprisoned by it as well, this is very much part of being Jewish.
Another core Jewish value is repentance, redemption, the belief that our best response to yesterday's mistakes and misdeeds is doing what is right today, and from today forward.
I don't know anything about Allianz. If, in fact, they have done enough in recent years to be fairly considered "a friend of the Jewish people," that should be enough. Are the decendants of that CEO who was in Hitler's cabinet still in control or influential in the company, and, if so, what does their record look like?
Let's not forget that a person can lawfully profess Nazism in the U.S. -- but *not* in Germany. And the old anti-Semite's descendants still run Ford Motor Co.
My father was a Holocaust refugee in his teenage years, and resisted anything German. Yet, finally, after using his engineering skills to study the question, when he wanted a new camera, he bought a Voigtlander. He understood that if he got less of what he wanted in a camera, for his money, by buying something else, he would be punishing himself as much as the German company.
Let's not forget, as well, that the money that Allianz might pay for the contract, if they can get it, will benefit the Giants' ownership, 50% of which is held by the Tisch family. Could any truly Nazi company possibly make a multi-million-dollar purchase from a group that included Jews?
Forgive but never forget.Paying money does not right a wrong. It just means you're paying money. The real question is: where was the money earned, and for what is it actually spent? 1 percent for ART? Architecture is an ART. The sport is an Art!
This Stadium naming controversy is demonstrative of why public facilities should not be named for corporations. Individual donors who are living, and have a good public name , have contributed to the public good are more appropriate. If the CEO of Allianz wants to donate his own funds, his/her association to his/her company would be a win win, and most importantly, the brand would be dependent on the contemporary reputation & contributions of that individual donor. I believe in personal responsibility--not collective guilt or permission.
Some holy baseball fans might want to re-consider the national history of the game and remember the discrimination of black baseball players in America(Yes, even after Berlin 1936) ,and come clean there as well.
Being a very proud American, i must respectfully address this. I would like to remind all Americans of the great deeds that our Jewish freinds have done for this great nation. After all without a "jewish sponser", Christopher Columbis would never have made the journey to a new world for it was provided by a very generous Jewish business man who believed. There are many many many wonderful historian facts of the Blessings the Jewish people have contributed and still contributes to our well being. As our Father said, "When you Bless my people, (the Jews), then you have Blessed me JUST SAYING?
JOYCE
I think it is extremely difficult to assertain the origin of any money
or financial agreement etc to the ultimate IDEAL 100%.So to some extend forgiving and not may be,forgetting is the answer.Mossey
Well, it's OBE by now, anyway...
HOW IN THE WORLD DO THE JEWS WHO ARE ABOUT 3 P/C OF OUR POPULATION able TO always get their way on anything that comes up.Of course I will now be called anti Semitic or some garbage because I have an opinion that they dont agree with, its very strange.......If the blacks got 97 p/c of their people out to vote aND they voted as a block, imagine the power they would have, the Spanish are learning fast.
Of course I will now be called anti Semitic
As you should be. Nothing strange about it.
Thank you Joyce. You know your Scriptures. God said to Abraham and his seed "Those who bless thee will be blessed; those who curse thee will be cursed". Thank you for your support of the Jewish people in these troublesome times. May the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob bless you mightily!
Nazi murder spree, cover-up, corruption at Days Inn, CNA/Loews, and AHLA …
Days Inn’s nazi shrine at it’s flagship hotel was insured by CNA, a division of Loews, owned by the Tisch family. Jon Tisch is a former head of the American Hotel Lodging Association. When Nazi Tom Metzger stated, “I remember the good ole Days Inn, Georgia”, he referenced the flagship property of the 1800 unit chain.
3 sets of Miami homicides from the 1970’s have been solved. They each had a nick-name … “The Hepatitis Murders”, The “Miami Rampage Murders”, and “The Building Toss Murders”. All 3 sets had 20 victims perish. They were committed by the same gang of young pro-nazi perpetrators with high-up connections in Dade County.
The perpetrators are:
1) Tom Tobin, Atlanta, GA - now a magistrate in Atlanta. Son of Mami judge, David Tobin.
2) John Snodgrass, Atlanta, GA - formerly CEO of Days Inn hotels and formerly president of Cendant Corp..
3) Doug Collins, Atlanta, GA - formerly president of Days Inn and CEO of Buckhead America, a hotel management company.
4) Anthony Marshall, Orlando, FL - formerly Dean of F.I.U.’s hotel college and current director of the American Hotel Lodging Association in Orlando
5) Frederick W. Tokars - United States Federal Prisoner #40099-066, formerly a Judge pro temp in Atlanta and City of Atlanta prosecutor.
1) “The Hepatitis Murders” - victims were administered a lethal combination of “Hepatitis D” and “Hepatitis B” in the form of feces. Within 4 mos., the victims developed jaundice, diahrreha, emaciation, before their deaths. The Hepatitis “D” was supplied to the group by the brother of 1 of the perpetrators, Dr. Jerome Tokars, jr., in practice today at the CDC in Atlanta. Tokars, Collins, Tobin, and Snodgrass injected the victims with the Hepatitis “D” and within days, forced the feces of Anthony Marshall into the victims orally. Among the victims are:
Helen Whited, daughter of the editor-in-chief of the Miami Herald
Captain Steven Rabinovich, Eastern Air Lines
Don Oglesby, a medical student at the U. of Maimi
Dana St. Claire, a senior at Carol City High School
Bob Bowers, a resident of Miami
Alan Moyers, a resident of Miami and Navy officer
I believe that these 5 also participated in the same M.O. in the deaths of 5 U.S. Army personell at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu in the mid-1980’s.
The “Hepatitis Murders” may have been re-classified as a “failed medical experiment” over the objections of Dr. Joe Davis, M.E.. I believe that the re-classification of these murders was coerced at the insistence of those connected to the perpetrators and done so at gun-point.
2) The “Building Toss” murders.
20 victims thrown to their deaths in Miami in the mid-70’s. The persons responsible are Tobin, Tokars, Snodgrass, and Collins. I do not believe that Anthony Marshall of Orlando participated in these homicides though I am certain he was aware of them being committed by these persons aforehand.
3) The “Miami Rampage Murders” - over a period of 2 weeks, 20 persons were beaten, shot, and stabbed to death by the 4 younger persons of the gang, Tokars, Collins, Snodgrass, and Tobin.
I believe that the persons responsible for these 3 sets of these murders should be brought to justice and convicted and sentenced to life in prison. This information can be confirmed in interview with U.S. Federal Prisoner #40099-066, Frederick W. Tokars.
On one hand this will shame and embarrasses people who's parents , brothers, sisters and children who died in Auschwitz. What Allianz did was an irreversible mistake that 12 million dollars doesn't help. When you think of a drunk man driving and he kills a pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk what do you think should happen? this man will obviously pay the family blah blah and serve time in jail but is that enough? This situation isn't simply about how much allianz is willing to pay for the naming rights. This is a moral challenge that a person must go introspective to find the answer. On the other hand What allianz did was in the past and the people who work their now should not suffer for the mistakes that the previous owner has done. they are trying to make amends and are still looking for people and families who they insured. Why should allianz have to be chosen out of the group of companies who ere or had ties with them? You drive BMWs and Mercedes and Volkswagens all the time. Even though were at war with Arabs you buy there oil. With the drunk driving incident do you punish the grandsons of these people? you see a very long list of pros and cons
i am personally a con thank you!
Hi ,
Thanks for writing such an interesting article. It’s really good to know about the real estate and home furnishings in detail. We love our windows because they let in the light and give us a view of the outside world but we don’t enjoy our windows quite so much if they are cold and drafty. If this sounds like your home, could be you need to check with a knowledgeable Atlanta window installation company. Windows do wear out, which can make them very inadequate at doing their job. Old style wooden windows are especially notorious for their poor insulating ability. The panes become loose once the glazing dries out and windows need re-glazing every few years. The change of seasons can mean climbing a ladder to install the storm windows or replace them with screen.
Installing new windows is probably one of the easiest ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home and they look great too! If you decide to sell your home in the future, new windows can actually increase your sale price substantially. But window installation is not a do-it-yourself project for the average homeowner. To get the job done right you really should have your windows installed by a professional Atlanta window installation company.
Thanks,
- Andrew Morales
