Deut. 4:9 and Shocking News About Men and Cancer

posted by Brad Hirschfield | 12:43pm Wednesday June 17, 2009

Men are 60 percent more likely to develop forms of cancer that affect both genders, and 70 percent more likely to die from the disease, British researchers found. Pretty scarry right? But the good news is that there are things we can do to improve our chances.
The differences in how men and women fare with cancer is NOT based on the biological differences between us — it’s based on how we men care for ourselves, and how much better women take care of themselves. It really brings home the lesson of Deuteronomy 4:9 which commands us to “care four ourselves diligently”.

It might take a little more effort, or in some of our cases a great deal, but the Bible already anticipated what these doctors in Britain have proved i.e. that we must be active participants in our own healthcare, and that doing so is a sacred act.
We talk about the value of prayer, the importance of religious community in the healing process and lot’s of other spiritual issues realted to health. But at the end of the day, we should remember that nothing is more sacred than all those physical acts which care for our bodies.
From eating better to excercising more regulalry, there are things we can all do to fulfill the mandate of this verse, and you don’t need to be a rabbi, priest minister, or imam to master this teaching/practice. Like the Nike ad says, just do it!

Is God A Christian?
R. Kirby Godsey’s new book, Is God A Christian?, challenges what the author describes as the commonly held belief among many religious people that the God in whom they believe is “one of them”.  People, Mr. Kirby observes, too often confuse God’s religious identity with their own, leading t

Is Realty TV Really Kosher? The Ethics Of Realty TV
I know, at first it seems that ethics and reality TV are about as connected as fire and water – one being the antidote for the other.  But perhaps it’s not as simple as that, a conclusion supported by the recent spate of articles arguing that reality TV producers need to create, and commit, to

That is true, let us keep our body healthy and may our minds and spirit
be sustained by the prayers and petitions we ask everyday from God.
Though sometimes we are facing many, many troubles and temptations
in life, though no matter what we try to avoid not to eat foods that
will make us unhealthy one day,we fall to that trap and we do really
need strength to resist our cravings. In the Bible it says that our spirit is willing, but our body is weak. This is a call for everyone
to continue mentioning in daily prayers, our physical be sustained as well as other areas in our lives be freed from sickness and diseases.
