Avoiding the Flood

posted by Brad Hirschfield

This week’s Torah reading centers on Noah, the flood and its aftermath. While there are many comments one could, and even should, make about a story which introduces the concept of God as a remorseful, rage-filled, killer who stops just one family short of genocide, I will not go there – at lease not right now.
Instead, I simply want to share a simple image, ask an even simpler question, and wait for your answers.

The question (okay, really two):
What opportunity have you forgotten to take advantage of, and what can you do to still take advantage of it? Try and remember that very few opportunities have really gone the way of the dinosaurs – at least that’s my experience.

Is God A Christian?
R. Kirby Godsey’s new book, Is God A Christian?, challenges what the author describes as the commonly held belief among many religious people that the God in whom they believe is “one of them”.  People, Mr. Kirby observes, too often confuse God’s religious identity with their own, leading t

Remembering 9/11 - Part One
The tenth anniversary of 9/11 brings up many emotions and presents some very real challenges, among them how to remember the past without being imprisoned by it.  This video, filmed at St. Paul's, the church closest to the World Trade Center site, is a wonderful example of rising to that challen

Is Realty TV Really Kosher? The Ethics Of Realty TV
I know, at first it seems that ethics and reality TV are about as connected as fire and water – one being the antidote for the other.  But perhaps it’s not as simple as that, a conclusion supported by the recent spate of articles arguing that reality TV producers need to create, and commit, to

Jews are born at a better advantage than others. If you dream of becoming a superstar in Hollywood, you must be Jewish to get a break. Many CEO positions in banks are Jewish and are only allowing other Jews to have the high paying jobs….NO!!!!Jews are born with the gift to be lazier than most and still be to receive more for their gluttony.

Of course, saying “I will not go there” right after you went there, strikes me as being less than straighforward. Well, that’s what I think, at lease (sic).

Roman you are an unmitigated horse’s ass. Your comments are not worth a tinker’s dam. Instead of dumping on Jews and their accomplishments try expending some energy on self-improvement and achievement of your own. Of course if you are so deficient, I can understand why your toxic diatribe. You remind me of caged monkey’s at the local zoo who fling their offal through the bars at people laughing at them. Grow up, get a life, and cool your inane rage.
