Your Charmed Life

Your Charmed Life

30 days to a charmed life day 22 — be a tourist

tour bus.jpgWe spend a lot of life planning for vacations when we could, in fact, make our lives into extended working vacations. I go into detail on this in my book Creating a Charmed Life, in the chapter “Practice the Vacation Principle.” Suffice it to say for now that life is supposed to be Disneyland. A few rides are off-limits if you want a great life — the illegality ride, the immorality ride, the self-destruction ride, and the don’t-care-about-others ride. Everything else is yours to enjoy.

So: on this very day, this very weekend, get out and explore your very own part of the world. Take notes or take pictures. Immerse yourself. Tourists find everything fascinating. For them, even tired, old lines from a veteran tour guide are fresh and new. Be like that. It’ll keep you young and charm your life.

Preparing for Christmas
I took a class on mysticism the other night at The NY Open Center. The instructor was Jon Mundy, Ph.D., who publishes Miracles magazine. He had copies available -- it's wonderful -- and one tiny article caught my eye. I reproduce it here for your Yuletide pondering:Did You Know?from Miracles, N

Peace on Earth ... but maybe not quiet ...
I just visited The Writers Room. It is a wonderful place where serious writers write lots and lots of real books: the evidence is on shelves when you walk in. I'm grateful that three professional contacts wrote me glowing recommendations and thrilled that I've been invited to join. But I don't think

Do You Use the Guest Towels?  by Elizabeth A. Grant One of the greatest obstacles I see with clients is that people have trouble valuing themselves highly. Somewhere along the line, they took on a belief that they aren't worth much. A friend of mine is an artist, and she's really struggling wit

Thanks for your sweet post (and thanks to everybody else, too — I read them all). And, Vitamin C, thanks for your screen name: it reminds to go mix up some vitamin C powder this very minute.
