financial crisis that indicate feelings of hopelessness and despair.
Unfortunately, I’m not in a position to respond to these comments individually, but I am deeply concerned when I hear that someone is in
danger of losing faith and hope.
I want you all to know how valuable you are. You matter and you
deserve help and support to find your way through your life’s
challenges. If you can allow yourself to reach out, there are many
resources of support available to you, or to offer to someone you sense
may be in need of help.
If you (or someone you know) are feeling depressed, hopeless or in
despair, please reach out to one or more of these resources:
- Reach out to a friend who is a good listener.
- Contact a local minister or rabbi and ask for their help.
-
The Samaritans have created an incredible support system for people in despair called
“the befrienders.” They can be
reached 24 hours a day for compassionate, non-judgemental emotional
support. You can speak confidentially with a volunteer on the phone, or
e-mail them. - You can also talk to a therapist online at Psych Central.
-
There is an online depression support group called “Walkers in Darkness“ where you can connect with others who can offer
support. - If you are having suicidal thoughts or feelings, please call 1-800-SUICIDE.
- If you are a teenager in need of help, call Covenant House at 1-800-999-9999.
As a community here on Beliefnet, I’d like to ask those of you who feel
moved to help others during this financial crisis to form a Prayer Circle. Together, we can pray for those in financial despair to receive personal and financial help and support they greatly need and deserve.
Please say this prayer for them today:
For I arise today
Through a mighty strength:
God’s power to guide me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s eyes to watch over me;
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to give me speech,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to shelter me,
God’s host to secure me.

Thank you that you are reaching out to people who are in desperate straits. I myself could use your prayer, I am a Christian single parent on disability and the math is just depressing and I cannot afford my depression meds. This is the smaller worry to me as it takes everything I make and then some to just keep a roof. This has really shaken my faith, but I would like to believe that I am grounded and old enough in Christ, to not have these problems(psychological), yet they are there and I go from knowing I need to be here(alive) for the sake of my kids, and not wanting to be here(alive) because I feel so broken, beaten down, and just tired and ready for it to be over with.(this life)
I pray blessings to you for what it is that you do to encourage people who are at their mental and physical end.

Hi Pat-
I’ve attached the above website for you to try to get your meds for free. I will pray for you and your family…You are not alone! You are the child of a mighty King and He will never leave you to be alone. Do not despair. Take strenght from your children who need you.
Blessings to you and your family

Pat: These are trying times without a doubt, however they are also times for use to reconnect with God. For too long our society has been focused on the outer world. The world of materialism, this is the time to go within. Many are experiencing the dark night of the soul. This is when profound healing is taking place at a very deep soul level. We may feel like everything is falling apart and it. However we emerge from this time renewed, refreshed and recommitted to Christ our way shower. We emerge VICTORIOUS IN CHRIST. This is the promise.
If you truly believe in Christ then do what you have to do to take care of yourself first. Your children will benefit from a mother who is well and strong. Reach out. When we reach out we find that we are not alone.
I hold you in love and light. I see the Christ in you. Many blessings.
You may want to pick up your bible and read: Psalm 34:18; Proverbs 17:22, Psalm 60:3, Jeremiah 48:22, 2 Corinthians 7:6. During my depression and dark night of the soul I read JOB….
