VIDEO: Obama’s Nowruz message to the Iranian People

posted by Aziz Poonawalla | 8:24am Friday March 20, 2009

There is something simply amazing about this. The video even has subtitles in Farsi. It is often said that the Internet allowed Obama to bypass the Washington DC media establishment and reach out directly to the American people; now he is using the same technology to bypass the Tehran establishment and speak directly to the Iranian people. This is a form of pragmatic liberal interventionism in its own right – and especially important given that the voice of the Iranian people, it’s bloggers, is increasingly under siege
Related – story at NPR with more details. Also, see the transcript and word cloud of Obama’s Nowruz message.

UPDATE: Obama’s video is “smart power” foreign policy in action – and has the mullahs running scared.

President Obama does not understand what/who he is dealing with. They will not receive this video with the purpose intended. It will be a signal to the Iranian leadership of our (the United States) capitulation to Islam and the Iranian dogma. We will be perceived as the vanquished in a “Holy War” being waged against our way of life. This is a signal that we have deemed the struggle to be lost. Iran has been declared the winner! Islam does not see this message any other way! It will not result in peaceful talks on settling differences. These differences can only be settled by our destruction. Our president must realize, before it is too late, that strength, unyielding resolve and determination are the only tools that can be wielded with the desired outcome.

Way to pander to the maniacs of the world. I’ll reach out in peace when they apologize and make reparations for burning our embassy and kidnapping our citizens.

I believe that if America can change the course of a nation by choosing a black president…anything else can be done. Barack Obama seems to be a good president so far, and I can see that he is really trying his best to fulfill the dreams of Americans in a much better way. Not to mention, economically as well. i feel that we should wait it out and see what he can do for the world peace. I have faith and do believe that Americas future looks bright.
