Da’ T.R.U.T.H. taking sabbatical from ministry after “moral indescretion”

posted by Joanne Brokaw | 12:30pm Friday November 6, 2009

datruth.JPGHip hop artist Da’ T.R.U.T.H. announced on his website that he is taking a sabbatical from ministry after a “moral indescrtion” in his personal life.
In the statement, Emanuel L. Lambert, Jr, – aka Da’ T.R.U.T.H. – said that he has apologized to his wife and family and is working towards reconciliation with the help of his church, pastor and restoration team.
In May, hip hop artist The Ambassador was released from his label after a “moral failure in his marriage.”
And currently in the news, BeBe Winans arrest in February on domestic assault charges against his ex-wife Debbie.
The first thought that came to my mind: perhaps these are the issues that the Gospel Music Association might consider helping artists address – how to be in the spotlight and hold a marriage together, maybe offer a place for artists to go for confidential counseling and support, facilitate support groups, offer marriage retreats?
Christian music artists – regarldess of genre – aren’t immune to sin. They struggle with pressure and failure and falling, just like everyone else. The pressure of being held up by music fans as somehow holier than the rest of the Christian community simply because they’re in the public eye can often lead artists to struggle silently with problems. There is a bit of a “stick your head in the sand and ignore the problem” mentality in Christian music.
I don’t share these stories to be exploitive; I hope that you’ll pray for Christians who have been called to share the gospel or encourage believers through music, as well as hold them as accountable as you would the folks sitting in church with you. Not to condemn, but to uphold in brotherly love and accountablity.

It saddens me not to hear that these men are human, but more so, to think of the possible condemnation they may feel from others. To every Christian that is so quick to say this walk is easy, I would challenge them to do a true evaluation of themselves. It is a daily walk, and it is up to every individual to have a true genuine relationship with Christ! When you’re faced with dealing with your choices, it’s is unfailing love that will give you the strength to press forward! God Bless!

I am sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to Da Truths family. I pray that his wife will be able to find it in her heart to forgive him, in a way that they can move past this stronger and united. I pray that this sin does not destroy their union with each other and more importantly with God. Da Truth you still have talent, don’t allow the devil to take away what God has blessed you with. Overcome this tribulation, come out stronger, and bless people once again. I pray peace for his wife and family. Peace for him. I pray that him and his wife won’t feel the judgments of others. Keep your eyes on God, ignore the idiots who criticize because they are probably ne

It’s hard to hear this kind of news but I think we miss the fact that these people need support just like everybody else that is not out front. I hate when this happens but they are human and they need to have certain things in place to make sure nothing like this does happen.

First of all, “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23. This scripture does not give anyone a license to continue in sin, but it should remind us that we are constantly in need of help from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Life is all about Him and not about our ups and downs. Brother Lambert and everyone involved, repent of your sin and get back on the battle field. God Bless.

” A just man falls seven times…”. The Word teaches that if we sin we have an Advocate with the Father. We have been justified by The Lord Jesus who died for all sin. God knew that once man came to the knowledge of evil that we were bond to fall. While we dont make it a practice, sin still rises even in the life of the believer. It disappoints me that my brother feels as if he must take a sobatical. Peter denied even knowing Jesus at the darkest time in His life, But Jesus still wanted Peter to ” feed His sheep” If you feel that your sin somehow disqualifies you from ministering the Gospel, then are you saying that you are the one who qualifies or disqualifies? Read the parable of the prodical son. Instead of making the repentent son as one of the servants, his father gave him a robe. God is righteous in making the sinner righteous. Think of what he can do with a saint.

I often stumble…
Positively we chasten each other in Christ Jesus and uphold in Spirit through ceasless prayer, however Negative critics criticize because they see justification for their poorly chosen life-styles.
Sin is sweet but the rewards are short lived and as christians this is the struggle we face.
Remember “As Iron sharpeneth Iron” so we are to uphold each another.

GRACE. while we were sinners no amount of good deeds could make us righteous…why do we think that now that we’re His righteousness, any amount of sin can make us sinners again? to my brother, His strength is made perfect in our weakness, so when everyone around you thinks you finished, it’s time to look up. one love, with you in prayer

I am up late on this particular day, and I am watching BET’s gospel hour and your video came on. For some reason I felt lead to look up your name, and I didn’t understand why I did it but I just did. I thought maybe the kids would like your music, but when your name came up so did your affair. As I read what happened my heart could not help but to go out to your wife. See I am going through the very same thing, my husband decided to bed a friend. There are times when I want to kill myself and have really thought about doing it. But as I am thinking of how I fell and what your wife has to be feeling, I realize that I am not the only one. That I am not the reason this happened and my life does not have to end even though it feels like it is. I walk around everyday pretending that everything is ok with me and that I am dealing with what happened. When in fact I am dying inside and want to die on the outside as well. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with in my life and I am sure your wife feels the same way. For whatever reason good had me read your story my heart goes out to the both of you and I hope that your wife is in a better place than I am.

Perhaps we should re-evaluate the gospel music industry and lifestyle, especially the lure of Christian artists into a world of compromise. There shoulld be pastoral influence somehow that can offer counseling, which might help many who are novices in their Christian walk. It should be talked about and taught from the pulpit.
Christian entertainment is exploding, but there is very little wisdom being offered from elders of the Christian communiiy because they get pulled into the spotlight with flattering accolades, hoping that some of the fame might rub off on them. Flattery is a potent drug!

Amen! These stories enlighten us to the fraility of man and the hope Jesus installs in us.. Men judge by the flesh but Jesus said he judges noone after he graced Mary with his presence. God is love! and my life has been so deeply touched by these men of God through the midst of my own storms. I thank God for ya’ll and can understand ya folly since we are all born into the same depraved state of existence. Some times God allows these things to happen in our lives to reveal his grace and love in a whole new way.. We will not understand our need for a saviour until we can see our own brokeness! We are not good people who do bad things, but bad people who seldomly do good things. Thanks be to the righteousness of God through faith and grace we are reconciled to him! We might not always see that righteousness in our lives here hence the definition of FAITH! The ASSURANCE of things hoped for, but not SEEN. THE WAY , DA’ T.R.U.T.H. and the life! Thank you Jesus for your gift! So much happened at that cross on that day and the fact that these men would take that challenge to walk that narrow road and be held accountable to a self righteous condemning world is amazing! None of us are adequate! None of us have already attained! Yet Nothing can seperate us from your love! Your grace is sufficient!
