Britney Spears’ much-balleyhooed head-shaving meltdown over the weekend had (at least) one religiously confusing aspect to it. While she was getting a white-and-pink cross tattooed on her lower hip, the former teen idol sported a large Star of David necklace that at one point was on backwards so it hung down her back–facing the many cameras that were filming her through the tattoo parlor window. Apparently, the one-time Southern Baptist has been wearing the star since January as a gesture of solidarity with her recent (Jewish) boyfriend.
A brief religious history of Britney Spears, for those who need a refresher:
1981-2003: Britney is raised a Southern Baptist, and touts her faith as her inspiration for remaining a virgin.
2003: Britney becomes friends with Madonna, who brings her into the celebrity Kabbalah fold.
January 2006: Britney dabbles in Hinduism, taking her baby son to be blessed at a Malibu Hindu Temple.
May 2006: Britney splits from her buddy Madge and renounces Kabbalah, declaring, “my baby is my religion.”
February 2007: Newly divorced, Britney briefly dates Isaac Cohen (hmm, do we think he’s Jewish?) and is photographed wearing a large Star of David necklace on the party circuit even after they break up.
Bloggers and entertainment reporters are all atwitter about the possible reasons behind Britney’s bizarre behavior, speculating about everything from addiction to post-partum depression to irreversible follicle damage from harsh chemical hair dyes. But whatever the specific reason for her weekend oddities, no one can deny that this is a young woman who seems lost and overwhelmed in a media climate that she herself works really hard to perpetuate. It sounds more exhausting than fun. And not a little sad that she can’t even find a single faith to be a lasting port in the long, long storm of her life.

Why make such a big deal out of Brittney shaving her head? Maybe she was sick and tired of the extensions in her hair. They’re very difficult to remove. She doesn’t owe anyone an explaination. Maybe she just couldn’t stand them anymore and just decided, “To heck with it all, and shaved them off”. Geez, give the girl a break, without having to over analyze everything. Come on! I mean, discussing it on the Today Show? Don’t we have better things to do? What a sad pathetic life everyone must have. Let’s discuss really serious issues for a change. Let’s get a grip, America.

Have any of you out there ever had a loss of husbands or boyfriends? It is NEVER easy to get over! A person that is in the news all the time has NO time of her own to figure out what she needs to do!The news people need to back off! Let her have her life back so she can get it figured out! Everyone needs time alone ! It gets old hearing about it over and over!!!! Britney, you got so much going for yourself, take a vacation far away with your kids and a family member you can talk to, give yourself some time to heal! So what if you cut your hair off, your still beautiful, again, so what if you got a tattoo, no big deal, you got to live with it, no one else!EVERYONE else needs to BACK OFF!! Been there done it too, from an old lady!

People, please. This is yet another publicity stunt my someone who has no talent. Unless talent is defined as being a slutty, brainless plaything. I figure since Anna Nicole has passed, Britney is trying to fill a void. Her singing career is over(her fan base has grown up and she doesn’t know any other routine than playing Lolita, and Sure Enough there are more willing underage girls that are filling that role. Its hard to compete in the adult arena with other singers that can actually sing(Beyonce, and Christina Aguelerra(sp?) She tried to be Madonna (wearing leather and kissing girls), doesn’t haven’t the Ghetto experience like Madonna, so her music lacks grit. So whets left, besides being crazy and stupid. Her life is like Surreal World Celebrity Reality show, without the laughs. I hope K Fed gets the kids away from that unstable crackpot. At least he is just lazy and not crazy. Oh and before someone accuses me of being harsh. I am just sick and tired of these misfit sluts getting all this media attention. While the girls that get it right the first time are invisible to our youth who needs REAL ROLE MODELS.

I think God told her to do it! Maybe she needs drastic mesures because she wants to get her life under control. Once you know God and you stray from the path He has for you all you experience is hell. Life in God is heaven on earth and I think that’s why she did it.

It’s always a wonder why the press and the people reading about other people, whether famous or not, love to attack and embrace the negative, when another human being is in termoil. Whatever Brittany’s confusion, at least she is looking for the light, and some spiritual connection, as well. In a world where human beings seem to enjoy singling out, critisizing, and ostracizing, other fellow human beings, instead of offering compassionate assistance, is a condition that will destroy this world, rather than enhance it.

Very convenient… She suddenly gets inspired to shave her head, RIGHT after Anna Nicole is jerked back into the spotlight by dying. Frankly, I’m surprised shaving her head is the only thing she did. I expected a “suicide” attempt or some such mess from her. She’s not looking for “light”. If she were she wouldn’t be partying like 10 alcoholics. She wouldn’t be publicly shaving her head. Enlightenment, if you TRULY want it, is not something that you advertise. She’s a no talent bimbo, she can’t use her T&A to make money, so, any way to get into the spotlight….

I think Britney needs our prayers as christians we need to pray for those around us. She seems to be looking for the truth, I am praying that God will lead her to it. And I agree about the media, they should be charged with stalking or something, for heavens sake look what happened to Diana because of them.
