A team of family organizations and advocacy groups is beginning to collect signatures for a proposed California voter referendum to overturn the state’s new law requiring schools to teach “gay” history.
The law, signed recently by Gov. Jerry Brown, would require public schools to teach students to look up to homosexuals, lesbians, transgenders, and others who have chosen alternative sexual lifestyles, as role models.
According to the group hoping to force a statewide vote, the law, authored by an openly homosexual lawmaker and approved by majority Democrats, “forces schools to review and replace their curriculum when this money should be used for other purposes.”
The Los Angeles Times noted the law injects “controversial politics into the classroom” and puts politicians in charge of academics in the state. Further, it “requires a selective treatment of history by requiring that only events that reflect positively on people in the LGBT community may be discussed.”

This law they are working on to put in the young minds of children is insane.I sure pray that the Christian community and all other sane people fight this as hard as they possibly can.Get together and raise as much money as you can and work to sound the alarm so that you can corner the politicians and make them accountable.Exposure works the best.I know this sounds harsh but if we do not take action to protect our children, who will? Lots of prayer is needed to combat this evil.

why is the government trying to tell kids who there role models should be(just becAuse of sexual preference). and only the good points be discussed. ok, first of all, gays are NOT responsible for unwanted children, gays are NOT unfaithful when we(yes I’m a lesbian) find the right partner for us. gays are NOT a danger to children(we are just as protective if not more, simply put we value most what we can not have). gays are responsible when it comes to having our relationship right with wanting to raise a child.
now the down side of being gay, more suicides, more deaths, more humiliation, more isolation.
gay or straight, I would want to be my child’s role model, NOT someone else, govt. needs to stay out of it. btw, I’m a Christian, bike riding, god loving lesbian.

As a Christian and esp after reading about those suicides, we need this law. We need to show the truth that there is nothing wrong about people being gay. Nothing wrong with it at all, being gay is simply how someone is, like race, eye color and etc.
Stop the lies about the gay community, and let ALL of history be taught. Not just pick and choose what parents want to be taught.

Interesting. Take the decision away from the parents. Do you see any problem with career bureaucrats interpreting memos instead of moms and dads following their hearts?

Let’s see—wasn’t it California that voted down gay marriage when it really shouldn’t have been, IMO, put to a vote anyhow? Marriage should be a right for consenting adults, no matter what their sexual orientation. Now someone wants to disallow letting children know about, among other details as to what contribution they made, the sexual orientation of some very creative people.
