V Magazine’s “Size” Issue – voluptuous is in!

V Magazine Size Issue, Our Lady of Weight Loss
The up-coming “Size” issue of V Magazine, scheduled to hit the stands on January 14, is overflowing with a bevy of voluptuous beauties flaunting their feminine wiles. Plus-sized, scantily clad models work it as they model Guess jeans, Ralph Lauren and Versace.
While I truly believe that every body is beautiful, from pint-sized to plus sized, I am hoping that that the “Size” issue moves us away from a dangerously thin ideal to a healthy, realistic body image.
The average U.S. woman is a size 14. About 41 percent of women are larger. Crystal Renn, plus-size model, is a size 12 and her measurements are 36-31-41.
If you would like to feast your eyes on what’s to come, visit Models.com as they are offering a preview of the photos from the Size issue!

I’ve always been a fan of fuller-figured models. There’s a great site with many images of plus-size models here:
http://www.judgmentofparis.com/
They’re all gorgeous.
The site’s forum also has thought-provoking discussions about body image and the media.

Let’s not use Plus size models and fashions as an excuse to eat whatever we want and stay at an unhealthy weight. It’s fine to feel good about yourself wherever you are on your journey, but you also need to face reality and keep trying to eat healthy food in moderate portions and exercise regularly.
I also believe that a 2010 size 12 is more like a 1980 size 14. The manufacturers have made sizes bigger so we can fool ourselves into thinking that we still wear the same size we did 20 years ago!
Removing body clutter is about personal responsibility for what goes in our mouths. We are in denial if we blame our genes, “big frame” or stress for our weight and we should not settle for saying “Plus size is ‘in’ so it’s ok to be fat”.
And lest you think I’m some “skinny minnie” who knows nothing about your struggles, I removed 38 pounds of fat from Feb 25, 2009 to November, 2009 and plan to keep it off permanently. It is not easy, but it is essential to health, so don’t give up!

V’s presentation this month is STUNNING! As a red-blooded male who appreciates and enjoys all aspects of a curvy woman, my heart is still racing!
Let’s hope more magazines move their fashion perceptions up the size scale, until eventually what’s currently referred to as “plus size” will be called “NORMAL”…after all, when you read the statistics, it basically IS!

I hardly consider a size 12 to be a plus size! Come on! Try sizes 16w, 18w, 20w, 22w, etc. Show me those models.

I arrived at this article after reading the article in the link I provided. It mentioned the V magazine article and then highlighted some of Bollywood’s actresses who are considered “voluptuous”. I was furious after seeing the actresses mentioned. Those actresses are NOT “a little on the heavy side” at all! What in the world are they trying to do to us women? I absolutely cannot stand skinny-as-a-rail women, they look really unhealthy to me. This is madness. Yes, being too heavy is also not pleasing to the eye, but any size from 6 to 12 is normal, not heavy! And being voluptuous doesn’t mean “a little on the heavy side” as that Bollywood article seems to be suggesting. It means being well-proportioned and well-endowed. Like an hourglass figure. At least, that’s what I always thought being voluptuous meant.
I also think men are going overboard with their obsession over 6-packs and 8-packs. What a mad world we live in!
