Good Bye
Today is my last day at Beliefnet (which I co-founded in 1999). The swirling emotions: sadness, relief, love, humility, pride, anxiety.
But mostly deep, deep gratitude.
How many people get to come up with an idea and have rich people invest money to make it a reality? How many people get to create

My Big News
Dear Readers,
This is the most difficult (and surreal) post I've had to write. I'm leaving Beliefnet, the company I co-founded in 1999.
In mid November, I'll be stepping down as President and Editor in Chief to lead a project on the future of the media for the Federal Communications Commission, the

Secularizing the Cross (Christian Activists: Be Careful What You Wish For)
The Supreme Court heard oral arguments this week, in Buono v. Salazar, about whether a white 6 1/2 foot cross can be displayed in a national park as a tribute to World War I soldiers. Though it's depicted as a classic clash of the secular and the religious, it actually illustrates why Christian act

And someone with the name “Limbaugh” is one to talk. He isn’t American either. I believe that is a German name, a country associated with some horrific behavior, and guilty of killing Americans. So by association, Limbaugh is a killer of Americans. Perhaps he ought to be taken off the air!
This whole argument is further proof that Rush (another name of suspicious origin) will say anything to keep his (questionable) name in the news.

Limbaugh lying?
I’m shocked. You could have knocked me over with a girder.
Seriously, if this guy were required to only tell the truth his show would be about 30 seconds long.
The only real question is this.
Do the Republicans have any sense of shame left at all?

Limbaugh name should be Limburger because evry time he opens his mouth a great steink comes out.

That Rush Limbaugh has such a large and faithful following only serves as further proof of the idiocracy that we’ve become.

i can’t believe how many intelligent people are eating up the story obama tells. you know its all false. he plays on peoples emotions with his oratory. he has never accomplished a good thing in his life. the accomplishment he has attained was the education which he did never have to earn a dime to pay for and it was all done for one reason to take control of this country and of the world. he is another hitler. he operates the same way hitler did. he tells people what they want to hear. his ideas change with the wind of the people. he is someone to be afraid of. how could he live under the preaching of his pastor with out hearing the hate his pastor was preaching. so now when it didn’tbenefit him he left the church because it was detrimental to his goal. he uses people forhis own ends. its surprising people can’t see what his motives are. in white areas his ads depict his white kansas background. i black areas his ads depict a black man. it just shows how he operates with half truths putting words out of context.

Obama is not the Anti Christ, we need to read our bible more. It lets you know that the Anti Christ will be liked by the World and everyone does not like Obama. The Anti Christ will have the World respect because he will be Just what the World wants in a Leader and more. This man will be Highly intelligent speak several different languages, have degree’s and pedigree’s coming out of his ears. He will speak and the world will Ahhhh over him. He will be very Handsome and he will come out of the middle east and probably very rich.
Obama is intelligent but he does not fit the Anti Christ shoes. The Anti Christ will never say that he is a Christian or has been borned again or his Faith and Trust is in Jesus, and Obama said all of this. You have to remember a person of Islamic Faith will never lift up the name of Jesus, it will always be Ali. They are not wishy washy in what they believe in they stand on their faith. It is against their believes to even fake being a Christian or have Faith and trust in Jesus. We should be like them and stand on our Faith in Jesus.

I feel sorry for you, that you have fallen for the fear tactics of the extreme right.
It worries me, enrages, and then saddens me that Christians believe the gross distortions about both Michelle and Barack. Why would anyone, with love in their soul, believe these hate filled smears?

“Why would anyone, with love in their soul, believe these hate filled smears?”
Revelation Chapter 2
2:1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
2:3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
The church, especially the conservative evangelicals, have lost their first love. They have exchanged the Gospel of Christ for the political power of the GOP.
Once they did that, God gave them over to the hatred that was waiting to enter their hearts.

Your entry is quite an eye-opener! Very powerful. Of course, you know this will just cause more self-righteous clanging and banging…
“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.”
Thanks for the insight!

Barack is not african, he is not arab. o’bama is really Irish. That is why he praised his republican kinsman Ronald Reagan. So what we really have in this presidential election is a contest between the Scotch and the Irish. McCain versus o’bama.
o’bama is on record. His favorite breakfast cereal is, you guessed it. Lucky Charms. Just look at resemblance between o’bama and the leprecan. Who does not associate Chicago with the Irish? How else to explain a man rising from community organizer to candidate for President of the United States of America in just a few years. It has to be the luck of the Iriah!

The Republican Party, fueled by the Religious Right, the same party that claims to take the moral high road on all important matters (even though they conveniently neglect to boast about their awesome record with the poor, with minorities, and with children), are the ones who (1) realize that they have no shot whatsoever in beating Obama by discussing JUST the issues, (2) resort to lies, smear tactics, and slander. This is somehow okay with the majority of these religious right folks, which just shows you how hypocritical and blind they are, and how far away they stand from the ideals of THEIR SUPPOSED LEADER, Jesus Christ. The truth is that most people who want to drag religion into everything, who moan about how so-called “liberals” are ruining the country, are just a bunch of big fat phonies. Here’s a suggestion to the religious righters who show such incomprehensible hypocrisy in all these matters:
PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH.
If you do that, people might start listening to you.

Yes, Obama (Barack or Barry) is an arab, yet his skin color is close enough for some minorities to consider him african american. Now there is no denying that this man had several votes because of his skin color and no doubt McCain did as well. Was he voted president because of change yes, but was is change of color, race, etc. There were several african americans who were interviewed, they thought that Governor Palin was obama’s running mate? Believe it there is still a big racial split! (Really not the first African American, but really the first Arab, Bi-racial etc.)
